I wonder if anyone could tell me how many weeks New Orders single Ceremony, released in 1981, was in the UK charts for?

Three days.

Are you absolutely sure it wasn't three and a half?

5 weeks, peaking at number 34. Though I'm sure the same amount of sales today would make it number 1 for three months.

Was that for the green/bronze cover or the blue & white one?

As far as the TOTP top 40 was concerned it was 3 weeks, starting 14 march '81 positions: 39, 34, 39.

The NME top 30 showed it for 4 weeks, also starting 14-3-81 positions: 29, 20, 21, 27.

(Number ones during that period were Roxy Music with Jealous Guy & Shakin' Stevens with This Ole House)

This would have been the original (green) slieve, as the : 'Cream/blue sleeve, re-recorded in September 1981 when Gillian Gilbert joined the Band' - so says this site!
