Hei there.
Finally got round to joining this website properly, rather than just browsing today, and I'm really pleased that I did. I've been a die-hard New Order/Joy Division enthusiast, since first hearing 'Love Will Tear Us Apart' in 1980, and have spent much of the rest of my life getting hold of everything and anything released by the band!
I'd been hoping to get some information on obtaining Run 2 and MTO, as like many of you on here I guess, I'm trying my best to update my New Order collection from vinyl to more durable CD and MP3. The problem is worse for me in that I've recently lost the ability of play vinyl, meaning that quite a lot of releases in my collection are now little more than ornaments! Lucily I've managed to re-purchase all the albums on CD, download some of the unrealeased singles (I know it's copyright breach, but I initially bought them on vinyl, and my conscience is clear)...even my precious 'Temptation 7" and 12", plus 'Ceremony' and 'Mesh' have been re-obtained thanks to a work collegue who agreed to record them from vinyl to MP3 for me.
I despaired of ever getting Run 2, or MTO however, and so imagine my delight today when I found both in the 'Audio/Video' section
.
I guess that I'll never get to hear 'Run 2 Extended Version' and 'MTO Remix', as I don't own the single, It was just never available in my home town at the time, and by the time I found out more about it, it was too late. My attempts to get hold of this single over the last fifteen years have gained legendary status...travelling far and wide, searching shops and record fayres and auctions all over the country...all with no result. Still I now have the standard versions of the tracks. I'll keep up the hopless search for the remix and extended versions...but still I'm really happy now, thanks to NewOrderOnline. There's even a few curios and remixes on here that I've never even heard of! Not to mention the famous-but-never-heard Christmas Flexi CD!
All I need now to make my collection complete is the 7" edits of 'Blue Monday and 'Confusion', and some of the more obscure DJ remixes of other tracks that I've read about - well I can dream can't !?
Hope to interact more with the community on here as the days pass, if you'll have me?
It is expensive, but you have to pay for rare things I suppose. I once
paid £20.00 for the Joy Division BBC Radio Sessions limited edition
7" from a record fayre so more fool me lol! I suppose I would
class myself as a completist. I'll think about putting a bid in, though
I had a bad experience once with EBay, and lost some money on a hard
drive that never arrived. I saw the Confusion 7" earlier today whilst
at work, and was very tempted. The hell of it is, that I cannot play
them once in my posession, but it would still be nice to have them in
my collection.
