Pop singer ROBBIE WILLIAMS apologised to former JOY DIVISION rockers PETER HOOK and BERNARD SUMNER when his song ANGELS beat classic Joy Division track LOVE WILL TEAR US APART to a BRIT AWARD earlier this year (05).

Williams was left so red-faced when his song won the Brits 25 Best Song award - honouring the best UK tune of the last quarter of a century - he immediately sought out the veteran stars, who formed NEW ORDER after Joy Division frontman IAN CURTIS killed himself in 1980.

Bassist Hook says, "Robbie came and apologised. We've known him for years and he's a nice guy.

"Me and Bernard were taking the p**s because he knew the score.

I thought he should have given his Brit away - to us. He didn't need another one."

Is there justice?

Nah.

But at least he made an effort with a few words.

Robbie Williams, class act.

Is Robbie that bad for a popstar?  Here in the US, he's not overexposed.  I think he's made some quality songs, and it's too bad everyone from a silly boy band doesn't move on to more creative pop like he did. Glad he recognizes LWTUA as a better song in the meantime.

Nah, hes not that bad, but hes not as talanted as he'd like to be either!

The fact that he didn't write 'Angels' (did he co-write?) is a sticking point for many of us.  Its still a good song, but its no LWTUA.

I think he did co-write with Guy Chambers.  I think he's cowrote pretty much anything he's done, and a lot of it with Guy.  My favorite by him is "No Regrets" with Neil Tennant, and I really don't like much by PSB.

i only remember two songs here in a america that stood out... from robbie

millenium, and that one where his skin shreds down to his muscles in a video..

heck, i think he was GREAT for apologizin.. if i were him, i wouldve given him the award.. now that would be VERy noble... and bring him actually more respectable status then many might think

And "I Want You Back" with his boy band... or was it "Back For Good" ?

Take That was the band name if I remember well.

I only like No Regrets which also features Neil Hannon of the Divine Comedy on backing vocals (I've also heard of a very bad song called regret by a run-down boyband from manchester... might be a cover version of Robbies song)

Wow, No Regrets, what a great song! Really touching...

But we have Regrets, that he never made songs as good as that since then... I think what I heard from his first album was very good, but afterwards he became more and more bland, though yes, Angels is a good single, though Feel was better...

Great gesture, respect to Robbie, but please give us something more like that funny video of Let Me Entertain You (and what about that performance with Kylie at the MTV awards?).
