Is available today on Napster... anybody got it yet?

I wonder what it is...

Will it be an exclusive or just another edit re-titled...? The suspense is killing me.

Surely someone can download the Napster module - there's a free trial on it.

Wasn't this the fabled Napstoid Exclusive?

What about iTurnips ... I spent ages registering on that as a wolf.

As far as I remember Napster isn't availabe for German (European?) customers. So where do I get this mix from?

I just did... and none of my credit cards worked, so I had to use PayPal... and guess what, nothing yet!!

But I have doubts that I'm linked to Napster Canada...:skeptic:

Sprinkler, I don't want to sound like an arse - but could you put a word in to the Amazon woman, she keeps putting up the New Order covers upside down.

Pete Saville wouldn't agree, although he may be tempted to scan it and place one word near it.

and wasn't there supposed to be an exclusive remix on itunes too? can't find anything besides the single edit and tghe album version...

I'd put money on the fact that this fabled "Bernards Re-edit" and "Re-edit of the album version" are one and the same.  I don't know for sure but I find it hard to believe two seperate Re-edits are floating around, and even harder to believe that just Napster are getting the exclusive rights to it.  I don't have my Krafty CD 2 with me so I don't know who's credited for the "Re-edit of the album version" but it certainly sounds like something along the lines of what Barney would create.  Listen to the NewOrder mix of Regret, etc. With the Krafty Re-edit the song is still there, just a few extra bits of production wizardry here and there.

If anyone gets their hands on this (Bernard Re-edit) let us know :thumb:

Ally.

The CD2 re-edit you refer to is credited to Rich Costey.

So the question remains...

Sorry, I really lost sight with all those Krafty remixes. I remember a thread in the old forum (the good old days, when the forum was working with Firefox...) listing all the remixes. Anyone wanting to start that thread again?

Me too, has anyone seen the iTunes exclusive as listed on the main page?

Exclusive, they mean that it's the only place you can get them, but those are the mixes from the CD singles...

So they're exclusive in the sense you can also get them in any shop on CD?

Yep - "download exclusives".

Can't download them anywhere else legally, but you can sure buy them on CD easy enough.

The only site that has an exclusive Krafty track that no CDS, promo, nor download site has is the aforementioned Bernard Re-edit. And even then it's no certainty.

Then there's the Japanese lyric version of Krafty, only available on the Japanese pressing of WFTSC.

Although who knows what will end up on the US Krafty maxi-CD single, whenever that shows up.

Given the fact that no other download site has such an "exclusivity", I assume that this is just another name for any of those other re-edits already available on CD. And, still I have lost track on how many remixes exist...

Well, I downloaded it (good ol' 3 month free trial), and it's a WMA file encoded at 128Kb which is pretty lame for a paid for download...

The re-edit is very subtle - think I can hear a bit of an extended instrumental about two thirds of the way through the song, but that's about it...

Oh, and track length is 4:33, btw....

l8rs,

Nick ;)

The only mix that comes close to 4.33 is the original album version at 4.35.

So as long as it's not this, it could be an exclusive... Can you confirm it Nick?

Yeah, sounds exclusive to me, but it is a subtle edit, nothing that leaps out at you (apart from the extended instrumental towards the end of the song).

As I say, it's worth downloading for free (you get 3 months free preview when you download Napster), so you can download the song, burn it onto CD, and then cancel your membership! :D

Of course, with the CD, you should then be able to convert to whatever format you want! ;)

This thing is killing me... I'm stuck in the canadian napster store and I can't get into the US, and there is no Krafty at all in there.

How the hell did you get it?

Have you tried nick-king it from the US site?

I even cheated the damned Napster site and downloaded the US version of the Napster client, and now I have server errors everwhere in Napster.

Gee, there is a limit to stupidity, at least iTunes let you select which store you want to buy from...

... not necessarily ...

iTurnips 'store' only became available for the UK very recently even though the US site had their Wendy's up and running back in the sixties. You couldn't log to the US site, even if you used a pseudoname like Terry.

4:33 is exactly the length of the album version I downloaded from iTunes... I doubt the re-edit will be any different...

Well, I've just registered with Napster, downloaded the software and what is titled as the 4:33 'Re-Edited Album Version' there, and to my ears it is the blooming album version!  Unless there's any subtle difference with levels (which I very much doubt), it's the same.  Structure is the same (including the extended instrumental, that doesn't feature on the radio edit).  Getting mixed up with all the different mix titles, methinks.

What. Is. The. Point.

For everyone's information, here are the mixes I can definitely confirm:

Yeah, if there are any differences, they are subtle... I thought I heard slight differences, but since I didn't pay any money for it, it's okay if it's a mislabelled album version! :)

There's certainly no mention of Barney's name in any of the mixes, btw...

l8rs,

Nick ;)

So the moot point is whether there ever was actually a unique Bernard's Re-edit or whether Reprise Records US just fritzed the mix titles up. Perhaps the album version was known as Bernard's Re-edit at some stage in its development.
