Getting paranoid about all these Bar Cuba / New Year's Eve rumours, I chased up the ACR camp to see if there's any truth in them playing that night.
Definitely not, but they definitely DO have a London gig - dunno the venue, mind - penciled in for March.
Think that's their first outing in about 5/6 years.

Most intrigued to hear of this Allen (sorry I'm a bit late on this - been flicking thru some older threads out of curiosity)...do you have any more info on this front - perhaps a ACR webaddress (if they have one, surely) might be useful.... been wondering what happened to them for ages now, to the point of accepting that they'd split up.
The very last ACR gig I went to was back in 1990 in support of their MCR/ACR album - that's almost a lifetime ago....!!! They even nearly had a hit that year with a (spit!) Norman Cook remix of "The Big E" (Won't Stop Loving You)!
jez kerr from the ratio has a project called 24 hours.i think its just him and maybe a couple of other guys.anyway they did an e.p. last year which featured johnny marr i believe on a song called "imagine a feeling".you can only get it online,from urbanite records i think.i remember reading this on marr's official site

There a still a few around here who continue to like ACR. Two weeks ago, whilst record shopping, I noticed a copy of ACR's Live In America LP on sale for $35 US.
Didn't buy it as I already had it, but I haven't seen any of their A&M stuff over here ever.
Never rated 'em meself, but then again, I do have every Fall record so don't listen to me !! :)
Saw ACR play live last Friday in London. Still the best live band I have ever seen. Did all the tunes + their percussive thing as an encore.
Was surprised at the heavy turnout - lots of London trendy young things - never seen so many designer NHS specs in my life - was like a Proclaimers convention.
The usual fixtures were also there....the bloke shouting "play winter hill" over and over, bloke on an E picking berries, whistles......

Funnily enough I was in the opticians last week but none of the 'media type glasses' as I like to call them suited me.
I asked a girl who was standing by me if she thought anyone here had heard of ACR to which she replied 'only me and you darling'...
