Why did New Order have 'Gay Sperm' written on the speakers during 'Rock around the clock', on the BBC back in the eighties. That image has always stuck in my mind for some reason. Was it to irritate the BBC, or was it the Bands homage to their gay fans?? Love to know the answer.

it was "Gay Spunk" and it later appeared as a song title for Two Lone Swordsmen.

As Clive has already said, the PA hire company the band were using on that August 84 tour had their name emblazoned across the equipment.

LOL, thanks for the info folks. What a TV performance that NO gave on Rock around the Clock, had me totally mesmorised. I always remember Barney losing his rag with the sound engineers for some reason. Barney introduced Temptation, with the words, " An atmospheric song, in an un atmospheric place" and then the band where breathtaking. Those where the days, I miss Barney biting his bottom lip, and looking up at the sky.
