  • Regret (Barney breaks a chord on his guitar roll eyes (sarcastic) )
  • Regret
  • Love Will Tear Us Apart

The show will be broadcasted in april (maybe not all the tracks).

Bummer on TPK, but rehearsing Temptation. Now that's the cat's ass right there.

Great news about EGG. Hopefully it'll be on the Oakland set list. I really really wanted them to play TPK though.

And I want EGG segueing into Temptation!

Great news indeed and please French mates tape the show. I'd like EGG mixed into 586 and then Blue Monday to make clear how the chord progression changed in its evolution...

Excellent! A couple of questions:

nicomuc, were you at the taping?

who did the backing vocals during Jetsream?

how did they sound?

how do you know about EGG?

Fantastic news!!!

I was right about which Sirens'  songs they would play!

Egg!!!! I cant wait!

Because he attended the recording and that's what they said. Currently an amusing thread on this subject on the French forum. Digital Mike seems blissfully unaware that the programme hasn't been aired yet, but still keeps asking for a copy...

Great news :thumb:

so what's the story with les Vieilles Charrues? There's not much info on their site yet...line-up is announced on april 29, festival takes place  22, 23 and 24th of july...is this a rumour still??

Would Canal Plus be fuzzed out if I tried to watch it?

I'll quickly reply to Charles' questions on nicomuc's behalf:

I estimate there was an audience of about 80 - these things are hard to guess at.  I was one of them, as was nicomuc!

Barney sang both vocal sections for Jetstream, and he made it sound crackin'!

In general, they were very loud and very guitar-driven, but then again the guy from Canal+ (the tv station) said that they had turned up as if they were playing the National Stadium...

I think nicomuc spoke to them afterwards, which is how he got this info - nothing was said about this onstage.

And before anyone asks, no I don't have any recordings available!

Yeah, me too, but EGG!!??!! It'll shut the lad up who shouts for it BETWEEN EVERY SONG AT EVERY NO GIG I'VE EVER FUCKING BEEN TO if nothing else.

Anyone else fancy that French fest in July?? Sounds like fun to me.....

OK

Some answers now : We talked with a guy from the NO team when we were waiting for the band after the show. (manager?) I asked about TPK and he said the song was in a shortlist for the live shows but has been dropped. That's him who gave the name of EGG. We spoke about the websites too. And when we asked about a possible concert in France, he told us about Les Vieilles Charrues. There is no plans for a tour now, but that doesn't mean it won't happen!

Concerning the French festival, the line-up is announced on April 29th But according to always the same guy and Stephen - who confirmed this when we talked with him later, New Order will definitely play there. http://www.vieillescharrues.asso.fr/festival/affiches.php

The tracks from WFTSC sounds really great live. HNWYD was much better than the studio version imo It was introduced as coming from one of Phil's riff idea. When we discussed later, I told him he seemed to enjoy a lot playing that song and he confirmed that - adding that it was much more fun than playing 3 notes on the keyboard! :D

Barney said about WFTSC that it was probably his favourite track on the album. (I realize we already knew that with the comments the band made on each track of the album... )

Nico, you should have asked Hooky about Community, if he managed to finally hear it, we send copies, but we have no idea if they finally got them!

And the guy you are probably referring to is Andy Robinson, their co-manager... that would explain why he didn't reply to me yet if he was in France ;)

Is Phil implying that Gillian could only play 3 notes? :ignore:

Of course I did!!! :D He knows Community - he calls it the "Canadian one" But I'm not sure wheter he listened to it carefully or not. When I told him I was the one behind the cover of 586, he congratulated me - but I wouldn't say he was totally aware of what we were talking about!!! You should have told me it was an important point, I would have insisted a bit more.

If he smells beer, that's him! :evil4: Do you have any pics? A very friendly guy, by the way

Spotnick wrote:

Not really. The songs he plays live on keyboards don't request huge skills. I understand that for a guitarist, it may be boring to play the keyboard part on Love Will Tear Us Apart and Temptation.

That is the only picture that said to have Andy Robison on it...

I haven't met him yet, but I might in May... so I can't confirm it's him.

Someone will trawl through the archives.

When was the last time EGG was played live.??

For me it was a cracking version at Malvern about 4000 years ago.

I really hope they play it at Coachella for Jarvo and his mob ...Fantastic

That's the last date (Berkeley 2nd night) that we know of, anyway. It may have been played at any of the Brazilian dates we don't have full setlist info for, or maybe the Moscow gig in early 89. We just don't know. It'll be a worthy inclusion into the set again though, especially if it is the 15 minute version from 1981!!!!!

We actually do know the setlists of all Brazilian gigs because they were written in an article in Bizz magazine. We don't have the recordings of most of these gigs though. I also have a picture of the Rio setlist that never never found its way to the concerts page.

The complete concert (hopefully, they won't cut any track) should be aired on CANAL + DECALE on monday april 4th or 12th (I don't know yet) at 10pm
