Favourite version of Krafty?

Has to be the Album Re-Edit for me reminds me a bit of the David Kahne mix of 60mph

But the Glimmer dub is great for working out the subs in your car!!

I've only heard the single and album versions so far but out of those, I like the album one better.

I know!  *blushes*  I haven't had a minute to go to any record shops lately.  I'll have the chance next week, though, so I'll pop into HMV then and pick up a copy!

The local HMV offered only '2' of the '3' known Krafty cheese slices available to the general public - I've heard this is the case throughout western Europe.

Turning to the international network to fund my NO habit I have mid-sized hopes for the alternative mixes currently being propelled through the postal system. Recommendations above by 'DoN' (a reliable and constantly inventive thread wizard) are duly noted.

The single version, I can't understand all this remix nonsense, why remix it, ain't it any good?

Finally I've received my package from those fookin cheaters at EIL... don't trust the twats... What they say: a 2CD enhanced set with seven tracks including the video... What you get: the TWO CD singles you can buy everywhere stuck on the side with the usual EIL barcode sticker... those like me expecting a real 2CD set like the one of Spooky will be disappointed... oh, and meanwhile I discovered the video was on every CD2 as well...   To top it all, the price of this rarity of my arse is £9.99!!!   Higher than buying the two CD sinlges...  I think CD1 is totally useless, they should have placed one of the remixes as the second track, there's no point in having another version differing only because it's edited for 30 seconds. The entry at number 8 in the chart is a great achievement for New Order, the same place of Crystal, four years later, and without a B side! This shows they're as important as ever, not only for the medias (where the hype is actually increasing), but for the record buying people too... CD2 is OK, though the video quality is too low, I think the quality of the WMV file which has been around is better... I like the presentation though... The Glimmers mix sounds like Krafty played by Joy Division at a soundcheck, and it's cool though it sounds a bit too stripped without the keyboards, guitars etc. Phones Reality makes the song in minor key, and though I prefer the positive major chords of the original this remix is growing on me, the sound of the keyboard is excellent... Track 3 is, OF COURSE, the album re-edit, though the length is about the same of the single version. The titles were certainly mislabelled before they even reached the promo. It's cool this is happening decades after they mislabelled Cries And Whispers and Mesh. It's about the same of the original with the All Day Long Nosferatu keyboard added... Track 4 is the Andy Green remix and it's great, it adds power to the original though I don't like the bass chord change at the end of the chorus... Maybe the best of the other versions is still The Glimmers, but the best overall version is still the Album version.

My two copies are still in the custardy of Amazon.co.uk.

They've given me £5 to compensate the delay (after an irate email yesteday) and promised that they are on their way.

Is the Riton one the one that sounds like the autocue is sticking?  If so, that's the one I like.

I like the Andy Green mix, a bit of All Day Long thrown in for good measure.

I'm not surprised that the video is just a CDR bonus and therefore lower quality. If everyone had the DVD singles, would they buy the DVD of the video singles? ...Yeah, cos we're a bit mad like that

By far, I've only heard the versions on CD2. CD1 and the 12" doesn't even exist in Finland yet. Bastards

I love Glimmers 12" Extended mix. Steve's drumming is awesome and it's nice that it has so much space around it. really harmonic and most importantly, reliable towards the original version.

The other three are almost as good, though. This really is a great single. I think it's even better than Crystal (despite of "Behind Closed Doors). Quality of the video is a bit messy, but it's not that important anyway.

Track order is a bit weird now on my opinion. It would be even better in the way written in the back. Is it really only a misspelled or is the track order accidentally got wrong in the pressing phase??

Still I can hardly wait to get my hands on that 12" single

I like the little swirly All Day Long bits in it mainly before the choruses, I get all nostalgic

It's a dead tie between the album version and the Phones Reality mix for me.

That's probably because some of us reckon that the Andy Green remix and the album edit are wrongly labelled on CD2. Basically track CD2 track 3 appears to be  an editof the album version, without any discernible difference to the album version except it's shorter? Whilst CD2 track 4 is a different mix. I rest my case. Maybe we should call them CD2 track 3 remix, and CD track 4 remix. Whatever it's called CD2 track 4 remix is my favourite - could've been longer - followed very closely by the Riton mix which reallyplays with the song.Glimmers 12" is a waste of space; it's too bare, no imagination. The Glimmers dub is preferable. I think somebody needs to get hold of it like John Dante's Crystal mix with Hooky's bass guitar where it sould be: up top!

Krafty is enjoying some success here in Italy... yesterday I heard it two times in 10 minutes on two different radio stations, and we won a sort of battle of the videos on a TV music channel: when a video is on you can vote through SMS for the next video being played: first time Krafty lost against Jennifer Lopez, but the second round we did beat U2! MTV Italia has dedicated a videography to New Order, but I learnt it only minutes ago, too late...

I listened to all the mixes once and then shelved it.  I've had my fill of Krafty for the time being.  Hopefully the April 29th version will become my favourite.
