I remember a thread on this before...about how the three of them recorded vocals for Ceremony and they chose Barney's...but does anyone have the version with Hooky singing? Is it available anywhere online or what...?

There is the Western Works demo which has a combination of Steve and Hooky on vocals. I have it but its bit too big to send.
I wouldn't mind hearing it too.
I heard the live version with the singer from Echo & The Bunnymen yesterday. :D
It's not great. I have the western works demo (at least with Steve vocals, maybe Hooky) MP3 sitting in my New Order miscellaneous folder and I haven't listened to it since the day I downloaded it in 99 or 00 I can't quite remember. The quality is so bad you can't tell who's singing it, let alone make out the words. Plus the MP3 bitrate has warped the quality even further (if that were possible) it sounds like it was recorded in your Aunt's bathroom. Movement, say hello to me on MSN if you really want to hear it and I'll transfer it across.

I'm not sure about Revenge because I'm not that up on their gigography but I think the only NO number they performed was Dreams Never End. I could be wrong. Monaco never performed it I know that much. They did a version of JD's Failures at a couple of American gigs though.

I think Revenge also performed Sunrise and Broken Promise live, though don't hold me to that.

Aye, that's the other one. They did Failures at the '97 Los Angeles El Rey Theatre gig (narrowly missed attending that one myself). I think Monaco's drummer Paul Kehoe was spotted knocking out the opening lines of Thieves Like Us at Reading 98 as well. Would've been interesting to hear.

Wasn't "Failures" a standard in their '97 sets? They certainly played it when I saw 'em in Wolves that year. Nearly fucking shat myself when I realised what that Godawful fucking racket was!! Bunch of very pissed lads down the front that night who pogo-ed frantically to every tune, launching into a chorus of "We love you Hooky, we do!" towards the end of the set. 'Twas a fun night out. Plus I had a really tasty kebab afterwards....
There was a bit of confusion about that at the time. Apparently they performed Failures a number of times but at the El Rey (I think) gig they followed the track by saying "Not bad considering it's the first time we've tried that one" or something. Even though they had played it before. Weird. What was the performance like Doc? There's at least one Monaco boot I know of out there with Failures on it, although I haven't gotten around to getting it yet so I haven't heard. When I finally saw them in support of the second album they weren't doing any NO covers in the set unfortunately.

They ended the '97 San Francisco gig at the Fillmore with Failures... as well. They opened the show with an excellent, extended version of Happy Jack and Pottsy said "Sorry, Ian" after a dirgelike Billy Bones.

Yeah the extended Happy Jack version is pretty cool, got a decent quality version of that on boot. Basically that's that one solved, they obviously played Failures a heck of alot on that tour whereas I thought they only rolled it out once or twice. I think the "Sorry, Ian" comment was directed towards the spare guitarist they had around that time called Ian and not Mr Curtis. Guitarist Ian seemed to disappear after that tour and didn't work with Monaco again.
I remember at the time there was speculation whether he would be helping the band out in the studio for the next material but I don't think that happened. The drummer Paul Kehoe worked on "Monaco" though.

No. He sort of looked to the Heavens as he said it. Perhaps apologizing for attempting something approaching Joy Division's gravitas.
This is a bit passe since Hooky has now been touring with The Light playing nothing but JD, but just to set the historical record straight, to my great surprise Monaco played Interzone as an encore in Washington D.C. in 1997 (see exact date below). So I have now seen Hooky play Interzone twice in the same venue at different times (both gigs were at the 9:30 Club--new location).
Hooky sang it as Revenge at Ashton Witchwood 15 Feb 92.
I say that cause I have a video of it

Indeed. I didn't realise this was 6 years old til I read your post. I was excited about the return of Huntsman! And confused as to why Ally was writing a dissertation.
