In my opinion that promo was worth somewhere in the region of 15-20 quid and no more.  I got my Get Ready promo CD from them in '01 for about 15 quid.  That was about a month before the actual release too, I had no problem paying that and it was a properly pressed CD rather than a stamped CDR.  But 35 quid is outrageous and I advise people if they can find that promo elsewhere, do.  If Esprit get so much as a sniff of a rare release they will not hesitate to ramp up the price and fleece their customers silly.

They were just silly prices, I bet whoever paid 75 quid for all 3 Krafty CD promos on eBay is feeling well ripped off now.  No offence to them if they're on the board, but I got all three for less than 30 quid altogether (inc. P&P) from various different sources (they weren't hard to locate).  However they paid over 40 quid for the priviledge of having the promos a week or two before everyone else.  Silly silly.

Esprit typically don't need reasons to inflate their prices.  Sometimes I wish there were a watchdog that could hold them accountable for their pricing policy.  But one man's well worn Madonna 7" record is often worth another man's £100 of cold hard cash, it's hard to price down out of print records.  I think my attitude towards Esprit was typified when they had a number of copies of the rare Electronic UTEOT CD single going for 4.99.... then when they found out it was rare they ramped the price up to about 60 quid!  That's just sheer greed in my book, despicable.  I maybe would've raised the price to £25-30.

Very true, they're expected to make a profit, but as I say often their prices are just too much and unfair.  As a moderate collector I am prepared to shell out for rare stuff, but something about EIL's prices (as with the new album's £35 promo) leaves a bad taste in my mouth.  But nobody forces me to shop there I suppose, I just didn't notice the promo on sale anywhere else!  To give EIL their due, they are sometimes better to deal with than frantic auctions on eBay.  But not always lol.
