Nope, my CD seems pretty much click-free and I'm normally hyper-sensitive about such things. Sounds like you may have a dud.

I definitely hear the click! Do we have duds or are they all like this? You can only really hear it up loud.

Haven't noticed the one on Who's Joe but Krafty has a nasty click several milliseconds behind the point where Hooky's bass comes in. It's definitely audible and is more than like the result of a bad edit or digital clip while mixing rather than in the mastering. I can't believe somebody let this one slide.

I guess it can be either a defective batch at the manufacuring plant, or perhaps that's how it was submitted to the label (G'd forbid).
In any case I have returned my copy to the shop for replacement (not before ripping it to itunes). Every other copy they had in stock has the same click. The CD matrix on the surface reads "0825646220229 V.01"... Seems strange about the V.01, might be worth looking into (?)
Anyway, I left it there and grabbed the new Moby instead.
Will wait for the US version for now, I'm really curious about the sound there.

If it really is an intended sound, I think it is going to be on every copy.
...click after a second is also audible on my copy... ...it says 'Manufu**ed in the EU' - fookin' 'ell !!!...
guess we´ll have to wait for someone to get the vinyl and tell us, then. digital clicks on a vinyl = error at mastering

Yes there's that click of someone plugging in a guitar.
I hope its not the same click that was on the promo. That one is definitly not on my Australian version of the album.
I've listened again, several times, and I hear no click. I had hoped I would, since it might fit into my theory (the click of a coffin lid being closed).
What I do hear is the very slightest awkwardness when the music starts. The transition from no-sound to sound is not smooth.
The click is the sound made by the mechanism of the ships clock just before the first strike of the ship's bell.
It's bound to be there, if you think about it.

In fact, sir, I need to listen to everything again in light of your brilliant idea that it's a ship's bell. This insight could change my whole view of the album. In particular, of course, I need to listen to the first fifteen seconds of track 1. It's possible that I won't need to pretend.
My copy has it, as does my promo. Also the advance promo has it, only worse. It's almost like they tried to "fix" it on the proper release.
