It would be a crime to ignore the title track...
BTW, anyone can actually remember any artist that released the best track of the album as a THIRD single? ![]()

Pet Shop boys puts out 3 or 4 singles per album. Wonder why they have almost 40 singles and 20 top 10 singles and 35 top 20 singles in the UK.
Obviously this album is solid enough to have 5 singles.
And I won't push my lucky by saying I Told You So could be a light summer hit if pushed wisely.
I believe WFTSC, and GIAUE could be single #3 and #4, and I'd put Turn as Single #5...
If they don't, then WFTSC should include remixes of GIAUE (like 60MAH/SLY)
And ask the Chemical Brothers to remix it.

It would depend what is on the charts, not by your predictions. Like WFTSC maybe 3 but if the charts have shitty songs, they maybe lucky with number one. But if the songs are good on the charts thats better, it might struggle top ten.
Guilt is a useless emotion. It would win over the dance floors and that seems to be the song that is dragging in new listeners
Who's Joe is so powerful and sophisticated at the same time, but it's too suble and expansive to be radio friendly. Pity. But that would be my choice.

That is exactly it. However, if people are drawn to bother getting the album they will see it's loaded with the goods

Then I would suggest you "Get Ready" ![]()
Guilt ... YEAH RIGHT! Last thing I want to see is a bunch of 14 year old kids dancing to it in the clubs. ![]()
It's a competition between the title track and "guilt" for me.. as it seems to be for most of us.
I suggest they put the title track first and then "guilt" as a surprise fourth single at the end of the summer.. with some extra b-side track on it ![]()
I've been thinking if they would have the energy to put out (maybe late 2005) some off-the-record stuff like "Here to Stay" and their 80's hits was.. those news would make my downstairs pretty hard ![]()

WFTSC will be the third single.
MNAD & Who's Joe? would have been very good singles

I think '# 3' means Nic thinks it will be the third single released, rather than it will reach number 3 in the charts. Its unlikely any other singles will hit the Top 10. NOs fanbase aint really the single buying age group and now we've all got the album, well many won't by the singles for a b-side or a remix.
Would agree with WFTSC as most likely next choice and think HNWYD could be a surprise contender for a 4th choice if they decide to release more.

SHUT UP YOU GIRL!!! :P
I thought WFTSC was already selected for the third single?.The worry is seeing as its over 5 minutes long they will inevitably do an edit of it for Radio and i just can`t see how the song could possibly be edited without brutally destroying it:(
Even though I'm liking more and more of the album, I think GIAUE would be a good single. Plenty of remixes! But, WFTSC seems to be the third single and I'm fine with that, too. I just wish they released that as their first and put Krafty as their 2nd forgetting Jetstream altogether.
Hint... going on a limb here, but I already suggested it...
WFTSC as a single with remixes of Guilt as the b-side, release Guilt as a DJ 12" Promo like they did with Someone Like You.
That would please everybody.
Unless there is a miracle, you won't see a 4th single.. although Republic had one, so who knows... ![]()

Something the PSB's often do is release a non-album track as the third single to keep interest up (Always On My Mind, Where the Streets Have No Name, Absolutely Fabulous & Somewhere). If that single does well, they pull the fourth single from the album.
Nah don't release any, what's the point, unless it's a new track not on the album, re-mixes are boring!
I liked the way PCL and Movement didn't contian any singles
![]()
"Where the streets have no name" was from their "Discography" compilation, "Absolutely Fabulous" was released when already 5 singles were pulled out from their "Very" album and "Somewhere" after the release of 4 singles from the "Bilingual" album...;)
PSB's singles are worth it cus they always contain corking b-sides
eg. In the Night, I want a dog, Delusions of Grandeur, Don Juan, We all feel better in the dark, etc

You're right about "Somewhere".
"Absolutely Fabulous" was the 5th single from the "Very" campaign, "Yesterday, When I Was Mad" was the 6th.
"Where the Streets Have No Name" was released as a single a good 8 months before "Discography".
Waiting for the Sirens' Call is already slated to be the next single after Jetstream.
I'd like to see Guilt is a Useless Emotion released in the US. Perhaps they'd include a mix that Hooky likes. They could use GIAUE mixes as bonus tracks on the UK WFTSC single.
I'm not clubbing anymore, Matt. But I do remember a couple of years ago there were too many kids in the clubs. The law is different now though. All them kids under 18 cannot go out alone after midnight unless they are with their parents. And if the Guilt is kinda song that will enlarge the number of NO fans around the world, well fook that. I doubt they will ever be able to understand the meaning of Movement or PC&L, for example.
Guilt is a useless emotion then Hey now what you doing then Turn then Who's joe
6 singles - that should be enough:D
i'd go for Guilt or Hey now, because my kids keep on asking me to play them again; so, hey the kids can't be wrong, pop pickers! It's not about what we like, we allready have the songs - it's about getting other people into NEWorder - JET followed by Guilt might do it
Warners already said it would be WFTSC didn't they?, I'd be happy with that but think GIAUE would make a great summer tune, loads of mixes, I think sister bliss could do a decent mix aswell as the chems, how about a mix by Arthur Baker after a shit load of drugs, interesting!.
Love turn but can't see it as a single, they've gotta leave a reason to buy the CD.
Couldn't really decide between Turn & Guilt Is A Useless Emotion.
The age-old decision-making Technique of flipping a coin suggests Turn should be the next one. ![]()
Gotta go with "Hey Now". "WFTSC" is a good tune, but seems to run too long to be a single. Sure, it could be edited for radio, but there's no real hooks or big changes that stand out. "Hey Now" is punchy, it rocks, and the chorus is great ("You've got to hold your head up high, you know it's not too late to try"..I love singing along to that). It's a shame about Guilt - it had potential, but the chorus just ruins the song. My second choice would be Who's Joe (good chorus in that song).
1002
barney already confirmed that its the title track on that french interview thing.
why the fuck is jetstream being released anyway? if they want a 'summer dance song'..then guilt is a useless emotion pisses all over it for sunny brilliance.
in fact, fuck them all - dracula's castle, but only if they change the name back.

Jetstream's remix is really enjoyable... in fact, nobody yet hated it...
But I got the confirmation that it won't be the single version, the single version is what Pete Tong played 2 weeks ago.
I feel so sorry that working Overtime and I told you so hasnt been chosen yet............. NOT!!
It is by no means the best track but Morning Night + Day is like the other singles catchy and probably well suited for release imo.
I heard I told you so and its a decent track, i like it... but has no depth to be a single release
and as for Working overtime, you say its Monkees on a bad day, try and make a song and I dare you play it on American idol, its really hard ya know ;)
Turn is the best track on the album. If that song got airplay WFTSC would be NO's #1 selling lp ever. The song makes Krafty sound stupid.
I am torn between Turn and GIAUE, but I think I'll have to go with Turn. They should also release GIAUE as a fourth single, since it would have some some killer remixes and would go further as a dance track.
I can't see the title track as being better then these two songs, and what kind of remixes would you get out of WFTSC.
Hope the decision to make WFTSC as the third single is not written in stone yet.
Isn't this thread a bit redundant?
Barney's already said WFTSC will be the third single.
:\pimp3:
depthcharge wrote: Isn't this thread a bit redundant?

Not the best choice IMHO.
WFTSC is too long for the radio, and could not easily be edited to 3 minutes, except if they do the same as with TPK
.
Beside the fact that I hate Guilt, I think it's too reminiscent of Jetstream.
Turn would be a good choice.
well "i told you so" wont be a single as its already been on a giveaway cd with the nme. "morning night and day" is also on a giveaway cd in the gaurdian newspaper here in the uk,todays edition(sat).
the title track is a cracker indeedy but lets face it, does anyone in the uk actually belive that a five min plus track the meanders along rather than skips would get any serious airplay?? i doubt it.
"guilt" or "turn" are the only real options from this album,in fact i hope both of em get a single release if only to get some great dance mixes of guilt.

Barney has got taste
. Would be my choice, too. A warm nice song for all kind of people (old and young). ![]()

I think Turn would be a good choice followed by the title track, unfortunatly they would both be ignored as the lyrics would go over most people's head.
Hey Now is one of the best tracks on the album.
But Bernard said a while a ago that it will be 'Call so that it shall be. I don't really see it reaching higher than Krafty or Jetstream to be honest, it's just not catchy enough, they should really go for Hey Now.
