Are there any female New Order fans out there?

That reminds me, there's a web page where you can copy and paste text into it and it will analyze it and tell you if the author's a man or woman with 75% accuracy.
Ah, computers. The way of the future...
And there's me!
Bernards girl, the one with the scary pics of me and gorgeous Bernard in Brighton on NYEve in my profile.
poor barney, he's never been the same since, I even bought him 3 large Vodka and Oranges that night!!

Hey 'the Hacienda must be (re)built'...what's your animated avatar/sig thing from...it looks very factory/peter saville-ish...

Btw, Ally's a guy.
and me - formerly lowbranches now symphonie - i'm female and toss in my two cents on occasion.

Close but no cigar, Wedding Present covers

Symphonie-- definitely female. Rrrrrooowr!

BTW, it's Buffy, Buffer's girlfriend.

and you presume wrong. Sorry to burst anyone's bubble, but no I'm not a "chick". I'm 100% Scottish bloke and next time I sign up for a New Order site I should probably make a gender announcement! "Ally" is quite a common nickname in the UK for Alistair or the various other spellings of my first name but I do understand in the rest of the world it's reserved (strangely) for women only (Alison etc.) Other nicknames I'm referred to include Al, Ali (different spelling but the same, more Middle Eastern), Bastard, Twat etc. :D It should be noted the "legendary" (look away Shug) ex-Rangers footballer Ally McCoist is an international example of the shortening of my name so I feel completely comfortable in my masculinity. Who would dare call him a lady?? ![]()

I'm just about to paint some blue stripes on my face and head out to hunt Haggis too and maybe battle the English for my independance later if there's time before Uni. Et cetera. Or if you're a more educated American :D I live in a council high rise, spout uncanny observations of modern life and shoot up heroin whilst listening to "Ziggy Pop"

I dunno, but there's definitely an air of "The governor's refused your final appeal and the electric chair awaits" in Hooky's eyes.
Ally.
My wife Lorraine likes 'em too. Not as much as she idolises the Schmithz but thanks to me she's now become a big NO fan. The only trouble is, we argue a lot over them cos she always likes completely different songs to me. Bloody typical wimmin eh? Always trying to be awkward and contrary. Mind you, she ain't so keen on Echo & The Bunnymen (my fave band of all time) however so at least when I start spouting off about Mac the Mouth she shuts up. My dog Marbles howls along to the Killing Moon - I wish I could upload a quick movie of him doing this. :)

Have to agree with your wife there :) The Smiths are top dog compared to Ian McCullough and his lackeys. The Bunnymen always seem unlistenable to me but perhaps I haven't given them a proper chance. I'll look out a CD sometime. Mind you, I thought old Mac's bizarre sponsorship of 'Oldplay' during their last album was a bit cynical, as if he was trying to sell a few more solo albums by saying "Hey look the kids dig me". Stuff like Chris Martin recording Clocks wearing Mac's coat reeked of desperation a bit. Oldplay aren't even very good; same old same old.

Hi I'm another female NO fan, but I don't post much.
BTW Ally, I have to ask, do you have a pet bagpipe spider? You did miss one or two Scottish stereotypes. You may want to review the old Goodies episode of hunting the Loch Ness Monster for tips!

Mari, there's a very rare press cutting for sale on the thread called "Bet you all missed this one".
There's been quite a bit of interest, but you might still clinch it if you act soon and bid high.

I'm glad to learn, Big, that you're still interested in Joe's bells in spite of everything. I've ordered the Cliff's Notes for the Odyssey as well as a full translation, and at some point I do hope to be able to return to that project. I hope you will continue to participate.
I neglected to note that the Monica episode was quite on point in light of the episode in Ulysses where Leopold Bloom temporarily changes into a woman.

My Joyce career tragically ended after Portrait of the Artist as a Young Man. Far too many other things fill my time. Hopefully the pace of my life will change one day and I can return and complete my study of this great scribe. Or perhaps an accident or illness will confine me to my bed for a while. Renewed passion for Joyce could aid my recouperation.
This is my rather florid way of saying that I don't know what you're on about.

Well, Big, there's simply an episode in Ulysses (I think it's referred to as "Night-town") when Bloom (and Stephen, I believe) visit a brothel, and during the rather hallucinatory course of the episode Bloom is described as briefly turning into a woman and engaging in sexual escapades as such. That's all. I'm not suggesting that Monica engaged in any sexual escapades. I have no information on that subject.

This sounds like a somewhat familiar literary motif. As I recall, this course of action has generally proven to be a mistake.

When I was a woman, I simply continued to oggle the same girls in my office as normal, only in lesbian fashion rather than my usually prefered "married man" manner.

Did it feel different looking at them from a lesbian perspective, Big?

HARD to say really!
Patrick, this idle chatter is all well and good, but there has been a fascinating development in the story of the click at the start of the new record. We now have evidence that rather than being the result of an error, the click is intentional.
I have posted some initial thoughts on the relevant post, but elected to wait until you, DC or Wottak were online before developing it further.
I hope you were not alarmed by the sudden use of bold lettering in this post. I feel that the subject matter warranted it.
Well, Big, you're correct of course. The possibility that the click is intentional trumps all smaller subjects. I will devote my attention to it forthwith (more legal jargon to make DC happy).

oh-eck!
sorry bout that!
pic of me and barney v.v. scary! of us both i may add!
both the worse for wear!
sadly, its not the most flattering photo- since the age of 13 I have always dreamt that if, I ever met Barney,(something I never dreamt would actually happen!) the momentous photograph would be stunning, black and white, 'very anton corbijn', with us both in a field staring at a tree.
However, as you can see, something rather different turned out to be the reality!
Oh well...can't have everything I suppose!
I/He were very drunk- I'd been dancing for something like 7 hours, and according to my mate that I took along with me, we spent all night chatting (Me and Bernard, not me&mate)
Just wish I'd taken it easy with them vodka&oranges!
Bernard, if you're out there...do you know a good airbrusher??!!!
(Only joking, still look gorgeous to me!)
Anyway, perhaps this could be a new neworderonline challenge, to manipulate the image so it is something half decent-for us both!
well, here goes...do I just drop it in?c&p?
Enjoy?

Grr...wont let me drop it in

I've been skooling my g/fs over here in NYC and after a couple of songs they can't help to be overwhelmed. Too bad my ex wont get to go to the show but f&*k her. My new one aint going either as she hasnt earned that right yet.

*Hey you're doing just fine, don't worry.
Many of us foreigners (including me) don't speak a perfect English, but I'm sure people understand what we say. Write as you know and don't worry...
Furthermore; let's face it: neworderonline forums are very very much a men's world, with men's vieuwpoints and men's thoughts. (That's probably why they escape me sometimes...)
*Yeah, but this is because women just lurk! If they posted as much as Maya there would be more balance... You just gotta post...
Mari: heb je ook new order-materiaal op video of dvd dat we kunnen ruilen?? Ben ik altijd in geïnteresseerd. Je kunt me altijd emailen als je wilt.
*Half Dutch speaking here... my father was from Eindhoven and I was born in Breda, but my mother is Italian and my family movede here when I was just one year old so never learnt the language. Always spoke English with my relatives (mostly based in Limburg in the Roermond area)... Where is Purmerend? Never heard of that town...

*Hey you both don't look that bad!
Bernard looks better than any other picture we've seen since Get Ready! ;)
I uploaded the picture to my webspace: http://www.geocities.com/aneworderfan/barneysgirl.html
Of course once the page is loaded click on the arrows on the fookin annoying Geocities ad column to close it and see the full page...
wow, some more dutch female new order fans . Great! Well if there are other (female) dutch new order fans wanting to go to Belgium (Rock Werchter); yes I'm in for it! Didn't want to go on my own either. There are still tickets available for the day New Order play. Maybe 'little boy lost' from Belgium want to join us as well. I'll sent him an email.
I have to go right now (tennis lessons)but will be back later on...
Hi Julie, Hi Mick! (Purmerend is near Amsterdam)(hopefully I didn't forget anyone..)
Catch you later...

I don't think you both look very drunk in that picture. You should see me when I'm really drunk. Are you sure it was vodka you were buying him?
Am I right in thinking we could go to Belgium with Mari, Runwild, myself and Geri?? (Geri?) Have to say I hate it that Snoop Dog is on the same bill and Ozark Henry- who the hell is that? The Chemical Brothers are half allright so it's only New Order I'm paying this 52 euro for if we can get tickets. (Kraftwerk might be interesting, but they play in a different venue that day) Furthermore I don't really like festivals, but hey, if you are all willing to go I'll join you for the 30th of June. How about it?

I have the same thoughts about the other acts. Maybe Lissabon? Citytrip + attend NO on festival there?
Hello...I am a big New Order fan and by coincidence am a girl. I wasn't aware that there was an imbalance in male vs female!
Someone like you wrote: (Geri?)
long story, won't bore you with it!
I might be going to Werchter but it's still in the balance because of domestic responsibilities. Definitely going to Hyde Park though ![]()

well, there seems to be an imbalance.. on these forums anyway.. don't know how it is 'on the whole'. But thanks to this thread we've found some more female fans who so far have been lurking in the background it appears.

ok - I'm afraid I'm one of the last 'non-flying-dutch women' around so Portugal and England are way beyond my usual territory. Hyde Park has in my opinion a much more attractive bill then Werchter or Germany. Actually, I think my initial enthusiasm for going to Belgium has already reached a lowpoint somehow (having given it some more thought lately). (it's that Snoop Dog and Ozark Henry on the bill). I don't know about you Runwild and Mari? Still wanting to go or do you have doubts as well? If you go I might go after all..

That's not a Park, it's a duck!

England/Portugal are out of the question for me for financial reasons:\ohwell: But I'm still up for Werchter, if we could go together!

umm.. this is one of the remarks that completely escapes me really..(being dutch) sorry, Biginoil. Perhaps you can explain, but then again.. oh well never mind.
Mari: Werchter is also my only option. So: Let's go? Will have to find out where tickets are for sale and so on...
What's Biginoil doing on a thread: are there any female NO fans out there?
Just wondering really...

I bet he's waiting for his calendar...
And another female fan, I agree with Marian, sometimes these forums are very men orientated which does put you off a bit, I have been reading these forums for years but only just decided to join and have my pennies worth!! ;)

Close but no cigar, Wedding Present covers
You even have the album cover for "Bizarro", my favourite, in your avatar and all the covers for their one single a month scam back in 1992. Have you heard their new album "Take Fountain" ?. The march issue of Uncut gave it 4 out of 5 stars. Good to see David Gedge back in business.

*Well, I wouldn't...
Of course lesbians, and even more a threesome with them, are very exciting thoughts, but never with my girlfriend!
Practice is different from fantasy and one thing is an orgy of lonely people and another thing is messing the relationship between you and your girlfriend by letting anyone touch her... heard enough about those stories (at first you think you can control the thing, but sooner or later something goes wrong), and by the way nothing is as good as sex with the loved one...
Someone like you wrote:

Dennis Bergkamp a Nooler?
Mick Aneworderfan wrote: and by the way nothing is as good as sex with the loved one...
I believe that having sex with the one you love is called "emotion in motion", there is nothing in this world that compares to it.

Masturbation then?
Yeah (I like this definition), motion for sport is good, but emotion in motion is better and you need nothing else... ![]()

The "emotion in motion" quote comes from Mae West (i think) who new a lot about these things.
To be honest, I think it's a general issue. I've participated in about 10+ forums over the year, sports, bands, and some general news related forums, and the preponderance of posters seem to usually be men. Maybe because men rarely get tired of expressing their opinions? :D I don't know, i have found some that have more women members (the earth children's forum for fans of Jean Auel's series of books), but that's a rarity. It's unfortunate as it can make forums a bit one dimensional. I hope all the ladies here continue to post their perspectives and analysis on any and all things New Order :).
I'm female
when it comes to music men and women arn't that different in their opinions but i think women spend less time on computers... all that maintainence, constantly preening themselves to look good and smell great...
sorry i forgot we're supposed to be talking about music...
really enjoyed reading the stuff about Ally too, if you were a chick you'd be a TOP CHICK!
wow, can't believe I just read all that!
I'm a girl too! I've only gotten into posting when I found out that new order wasn't coming to Canada ![]()
and I definitely can't afford to go to the states..poor little student budget that I have :(
I haven't posted that much because most of the time ppl are talking about this version or that version of a song, and I just don't remember all these things - my brain is filled to the brim from school, so every so often I have to 'throw out' some excess..hehe
However I do visit the site just about every day!
any other Canadian chicks out there? I've seen a fair number of Canadian guys..
:)
I've never been to a concert.... what's the ratio of girls to guys at a typical US New Order concert? UK? I think that might be more reflective (although, some will just be along as a date) than an internet forum.
You can count me in as well. I'm old enough to have seen NO a number of times in '82-84. Have just started listening to them again after many years - mid-life crisis perhaps?

hehe, I'm not offended, in fact, I agree with you to a certain extent! ![]()
There certainly is cock! I've been a New Order fan since i was 16 (now 32 - but don't look it!). Substance has been in my car for years and it gets played all the time. I also own loads of boxed sets.
Absolutely love Joy Division too. My claim to fame is i approached Bernard Sumner in Peruvia nightclub in Manchester about 8 years ago and told him i'd named my parrot after him. He looked at me a bit strange - i wonder why?
Saw New Order for first time ever at the Move Festival two years ago (beltin!) and am determined to make it to Hyde Park to hear them play their new album.
pempem wrote: really enjoyed reading the stuff about Ally too, if you were a chick you'd be a TOP CHICK!

Certainly never been called a "top chick" before.
