"The best selling 12 inch of all time". I keep seeing this mentioned a lot in interviews lately. I'd kind of taken it for granted for years. It was a cool fact in the eighties but why does it still keep getting mentioned ? Does it mean anything to anybody today, given the majority buy cd singles (if at all). I feel pretty sure that it will never be outsold. Unless some artist comes up with some earth-shatteringly innovative AND commercial dance anthem and insists it's only released on 12 inch vinyl. It will never ever have the competition, will it.
As an aside what are the best ever selling 7", 10", cd single and dvd single of all time ? Are New Order in the Guiness Book of Records, I've never bothered to look.
