Howdy Folks!!
after musing and listening to the new Album and previous albums, i was thinking that this album is possibly the most consistent they've done.
when i first heard Krafty i had big question marks over what the new album would be like, but i'm glad to say i'm impressed a step up from Get Ready i'd say.
what are your thoughts?
My thoughts is that you just can't judge WFTSC as it is right now... it wouldn't be fair.
WFTSC + the 7 left over tracks together would be a better call... however the 7 tracks will be used for the 2006 album.
If you remove the 3 weakest songs on WFTSC and replace them by the 3 strongest of the 7 left overs (which are NOT the 7 worst, they are just produced by Brian Higgins), you might have a Technique contender there.
But to answer your question, Technique is the most consistent..
i actually think WFTSC, as it is right now, is one of the least consistent NO records. it doesn't really have the flow that Technique or Low-Life have.
If it isn't the most consistant, it is one of the most consistant. I know it is early to judge the album but I don't think I will start to think any songs are crap. PC&L is their best effort I think, I don't see WFTSC quite matching up to it. This is probaly one of their best though.

Fine Time I think ruined Technique's "most consistant" status for me. I hate that song heh. It remains #2 as far as albums as a whole go on my list because of it.
I think it possibly is getting up there on the consistency front. Every album to date has had its flaws, from dense production to shocking editing, poor song selection vis-a-vis the other available songs to inconsistent mastering. This one seems one of the better ones in terms of production certainly, there are no Fine Time-like aberrations and nothing as shoddy as most of the Brotherhood songs, nothing as disappointing as the production of We All Stand and Ultraviolence, nothing as badly edited as Elegia. You can hear the words and even sense the way the instruments are working together, something not quite so evident on Movement, which still sounds like it was recorded in a fog (or a cloud of Hannett's dragon smoke).
No way. Granted, opinions change over time, but this LP swings from mighty peaks ("Waiting for the sirens' call," "Guilt is a useless emotion," "I told you so") to deep valleys ("Who's Joe," "Turn," "Jetstream") pretty radically as best I can tell.
For me, New Order's albums have never been about consistency. One of my fave albums is Brotherhood, and that thing is all over the place lol! None of their albums seem to try for a "Dark Side of the Moon" type of album flow. Rather, it seems they just makes songs they like, and when they have enough they stick it all on an album. No shame in that, there are fewer clunkers with that approach imho!
If Get Ready was Revlover, then WFTSC is the White Album. Fantastic individual songs, but each track is an island, completely unrelated to those before and after it.

Good call. Technique--too happy.
Low Life is the most consistent (except for the last and last tracks). Movement is also very consistent...consistently good! 
I agree - Technique is easily their most consistent album. But Low-Life, Movement and WFTSC are all very consistent, too. Republic is interesting because there is one song that I think is infinitely better than everything else on it - Regret - but the fact that it is the opening track almost allows for the album to be considered consistent. However, that's probably my least favorite NO album, along with Get Ready.
