Folks, I'm quite new to this download lark, so can some one tell me how to convert the Real Media formats ( in the Multimedia section ) into a format so I can burn them onto CD to play at home / car. I've already tried to drag /drop the Real formats into Nero burner but with no luck, what am I doing wrong ???

Is it possible at all ???

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers

I kept trying to do that but it kept telling me i had a unsupported format of something then someone suggested doing this....

I dont know why or how this works, but save them to your desktop and then drag them in from there. Thats how i mastered the art...

Liv's way doesn't work for me, it's possible depending on your sound card to play the track and record 'what you hear' it works with my Soundblaster Live Platinum and Nero

If you do a web search for Streambox Ripper and download it, it will convert any sound file into an mp3 or wav by a simple drag-and-drop, and then these formats are suitable for burning. Only problem is the trial version of Straembox (ie the free one) only works for 10 conversions, and remembers even if you uninstall then reinstall. Bit shite, but it's better than nothing. Actually, I think part of the rationale behind the RealPlayer format is that you *can't* do anything with it - except play it in the RealPlayer.

The idea is to provide corporations with a way to distribute audio/video/etc. on the web without losing hold of it...

If you're good with stereo technology, try hooking up a stereo component (like a CD-burner) to a Line Out jack on your PC's sound card. Then you play the RealPlayer format and the digital audio is sent to the stereo. From the stereo, you can send it back to the PC (by, say, burning a CD and then reading in the WAV file). This is all kind of ridiculous, but that's the point of RealPlayer (I think).
