ditch the genre labels and let them have fun
personally i feel the "dance" scene has passed them by and they have to compromise themselves too much,such as the Stuart Price productions... leave that for the remix singles...
just let them be a band, and call it what you will. they finally have somebody in the band now who can actually play guitar, so its not surprising that the guitar mix sounds more confident now
First off, I don't think you can boil down music to percentages.
I personally prefer keyboard orientated songs complimented by guitars, not the other way around. I rate Republic much more than Get Ready, not because I hate guitar music, but because most of the guitar riffs on GR had no imagination, no melody and simply no "spark" aside from the riffs on Crystal. Also, if you take this shit tracks on Republic and Get Ready and compare them, I think Republic would win hands down. Take two completely different New Order songs: Rock The Shack vs. Times Change. It's Times Change for me every time, the triphop beat and melodica riff are incredibly atmospheric. (Forgive me Tristian ;))
I don't think the dance scene has completely passed them by. The Stuart Price productions are probably the most interesting on the new album, they sound very fresh and have divided the fanbase slightly which proves they were worth it: they shook things up. It obviously all boils down to whether you prefer dance music or guitar music. I love electronic music and am a keen part-time sampler/programmer so that side of the music appeals to me, I'd love to have a chat with Steve Morris about how they construct songs!
It's different for everyone, but I am extremely pleased that this album has returned the band to more synthesisers and more skilled production, it was hard for them to go wrong with Leckie/Street. There's nothing worse than justifying poorly produced music with that old "we're returning to our roots man" cliche which the band used with Get Ready. The way that record sounded was godawful aside from choice tracks such as Crystal, Turn My Way, and Vicious Streak.

I really love low-life, but I picked the 75% rock 25% dance. I've always enjoyed tracks like age of consent, sunrise, broken promise, etc. I like their dancier stuff, but I think a song like perfect kiss is almost a rock'ish dance song, maybe thats just me. So I think maybe a rock song with the right dance elements. Maybe that would be half and half. But I don't love technique. Who knows, I think they should just keep making good music.

Like Low life 75d 25r 2 songs rock - love vigilante and sunrise and maybe elegia rock and rest pop.
Technique has bit of both so its roughly half each. Also like Sirens.
Movement is mainly rock, with JD influence. Some pop in it, but not seperate. All fused as one.
No offence, but this is precisely the sort of riculous over-analysis and pointless classification that the band themselves have always defied, and even dismissed in interviews.
The idea that you can stamp one particular track of NO's as 100% in one style or another is a naive one - their music isn't designed to be classified, and any attempt to do so is missing the point. If you enjoy it or not is the only real question.
How on earth can you hope to classify something like, say, "Sooner than you think"? 'Dance' because it has a beat? 'Rock' because it has guitars? 'Electro' because it has synth? 
Yes, you can pretty much rule out Peruvian nose flute music, but the best NO stuff almost never fits into a convenient pigeonhole, so don't try - just enjoy it for what it is.

Anyway Pop means popular music, so it can be anything. Dance is the word I am looking for.

I agree with Mr. Monkey's comment
New Order have never fit into a neat little category for me. I can rock out/pogo/dance to a great number of their songs, and others make for good chill out music.
Rock, dance, pop? Meh..

i think mister old monkey is being too tough on us americans. I know its probably because of the big annoucement thread. I do not own a idpod, and see it as the demise of the completer album.
In my opinion, new orders genius is like no other. I can not name any other group that has merge dance and punk so well. I do think their 'dance' tracks are also 'rock' songs. Except maybe guilt and fine time. Intersting enough two of my fav tunes.

Am I? Maybe I am, maybe I'm not. Maybe it's only the record store owners and the music industry as governed by the dollar. Maybe it's the reviled one who has got under my skin once too often.
One thing I do know, all the Americans who post on here have very good taste in at least some of their music choice!
