Well ... the three "U.S." Krafty mixes just finally appeared on itunes and I Finally got to hear the Rich Morel mix...and he freakin NAILS the song....keeps the album feel, keeps it dark, keeps HOOKY, doesn't over-embellish, samples the best quotes, and nonetheless it is really club freindly.....
it's easily the best mix of the lot...including the earlier releases.
it sounds like a REAL NewOrder song....like, in the grand tradition of excellent NewOrder singles.
anyone agree with me?
By the way, I wonder how much the Glimmers got paid to press the mute button on the guitar tracks and then leave for tea.
really....I feel like they were counting on some sort of retro-feel to carry it off....the drum track feels like the go-go's or something...I dunno, Im probly not making sense, but I sure was dissappointed until the U.S. mixes appeared....thank god.
and I think I really like all of the jetstream mixes.
I loved the Phones Reality Remix. Even though it was the only remix on the single that I bought. And yeah, what was with the Glimmers mix? What in the blue fuck was that all about?

I really like the Glimmers mix though...
I like the rock mood it has, it reminds me of early New Order, of course it also tells all the nunununew wavers who are the real daddys of it all.
It also has a superb bass around 3:30 to 4:00, where hooky delivers a synthie sound that then leads to the bridge section. the same feel comes back around 5:48 (where the bridge ends).
I liked this mix, together with the other 2.

Yeah, Morel's mix is the best by far. I liked most of the Krafty mixes, but was let down by the Eric Kupper mix. I always love a good Eric Kupper remix, but this wasn't what I was expecting at all. It's ok to fair at best. At least with the DJ Dan mix I knew what I was going to get, a peak hour hard house mix, but Kupper's remix was a let down for me.
Morel's Krafty mix was perfect and even better then his True Faith remix. Both are great, but the Krafty mix is amazing! Best remix that I have heard from him so far. I love his mixes for Depeche Mode and Pet Shop Boys, but this one is his best remix to date.
I like the Glimmers Mix, actually ... I just think I'd feel guilty cashing the cheque for that one. Not a remix so much as an "unmix."
Don't care much for the Kupper or Riton mixes; it's such an optimistic, "up" track, I don't know why they felt they had to suck all the fun out of it. Funsuckers.

I like the Glimmers mix too. I like how they use real drums on the remix. It's an interesting listen. Not the best mix, but interesting if not anything.
Riton's extra production was what killed it for me. Most of the time I don't mind extra production in remixes, but Krafty got lost in the remix and it's just didn't go over well on this one.
