Well, I posted several comments on that subject that no one but Big showed any interest in, T.

So returning to my original question, do you see any resemblance between the Quayle mix of Guilt and the Stadium mix of Spooky, focusing especially on the minute of Guilt that starts at about 4:00?

if i can rudely interrupt the grammer lesson, i'd like to point out that Mac's Guilt mix really gets going about midway through, including the middle break. from there on, the track is a monster, ending with what must be a tongue-in-cheek reference to the ending of TPK 12". Hooky's outro is classic New Order and proves that this version is the one that should be on the album.

I have not heard the entire mac version cuz i didnt get paid yet and not sure if it is worth it to get the US version when i already bought the import for 25USD.

I really want it on 12" if it ever comes out.

Can someone help me get this or steer me in the right direction...

I may just have to suck it up tomorrow though.

the 30 second clip sounds ok with the empowering hooky bass but i think those chords in there need to go.

again need to hear the whole thing. Im still gonna use the original on my next mix CD...Any takers??

Just another comment that I neglected to make before. I think the first 72 seconds of the Quayle mix before the vocal starts is actually pretty strong as well.

The only hesitation I have about the track is the very strong resemblance I see to Spooky, especially the Stadium mix.

Yeah Patrick...that is exactly the chord progression I was talking about...almost sounds exactly like the same synth as well...maybe it was meant as a joke...who knows

I don't know about a resemblance to spooky, but I think after hearing the full mac version its better. What gets me is the lack of energy in the chorus, the album version is not much better either. I think this track just needs to be taken back into the studio and New order need to sit down and realize they need to produce this track themselves and rework it.

Patrick, do you listen to a lot of dance music? my guess is that you don't because these two songs resemble each other about as much as any dance song resembles the next. it's a synth piano on both tracks, but that's where the resemblence ends. a 2 or 3 note progression may be the same in both but as far as the instrumentation/drum sounds etc go, i don't hear any similarities.

Hmmm...its actualy a four chord (not note) progression played at exactly the same tempo/phrasing and with either identical or almost identical synth piano...at least that's the way I hear it...

I also like how this song takes off towards the end...my favorite part of either version.

Thanks, Kevin. I'm glad to hear that I'm not the only one who hears a very close parallel there.

Perhaps it was unintended and then someone noticed it and that may have been one of (many) reasons for going with a different version.

I'm not saying that taken as a whole the two tracks resemble each other, Brian, but that the strogest element in the part of the Quayle Guilt that is the best (from about 4:00 to 5:00) is "borrowed" from the Stadium mix of Spooky.

I take some comfort from the fact that Hydrapelican seems to agree with me on this point.

What's the Rocket Mick review?

I keep listening to them and changing my mind all the time as to which is the best here.I have taken to just having the whole CD-R continually playing.Must admit that JET is going to be massive in CLUBS.If only i was 30 years younger.You wouldn't need to chat up the girls with this playing.Just lounge lizard in there when this playing. SO GOOD FOR ME.

TOM NEVILLE Remix though is a real grower though.
