Movement is a superb album...but sounded better live. If you wanted to recreate Movement using live versions, from which gigs would you source them? Right off the top of my head ICB Hamburg 81 classic version.
Movement 'live'

Anything from Berlin, Stockholm, Goteborg or Glastonbury won't be far off in terms of both sound and performance (ok, maybe not Glasto). That little tour was probably their finest, maybe alongside the Benelux 82 dates and the long weekend in Italy 82.
I would also say, rip the tracks from the New York '81 gig on the 316 DVD, the live sound they achieved there is excellent.
Would anyone be willing to host an mp3 or two of a live version of Doubts Even Here? I know there were only 8 live performances of that song, but I'd really like to hear them.

Had thought about that Adam.... But may be the sound is tooo good. What i'd like is to get an even sound through out if that's possible.

Thank you Old Blue for this file from this early gig in France
I was only 8 when they played this song
I didn't know this gig was taped.
Your file has got number 4, but Doubts Even Here is in 3rd position on the setlist
Is the setlist correct ?
1 Procession
2 Ceremony
3 Doubts Even Here
4 Truth
5 Dreams Never End
6 ICB
7 Senses
8 Denial
9 In A Lonely Place
Yes, on my transfer the audience noise / intro tape is track 1, then the gig starts from track 2.
It's just occurred to me that I may have betrayed a confidence by posting that track... ![]()
Thanks Bluey
Did anyone notice Bernard seemed to be playing a guitar riff similar to the bassline in the chorus of Who's Joe? ![]()
This Paris one was an interesting start to the tour, as Gillian's synth failed right at the very start of what was to be the first song, so the band jammed for a couple of minutes until everything was fixed, and they began Procession as if nothing has happened. The gig listing here doesn't show the jam.
I think there are at least two superior sounding versions of Doubts Even Here from this tour, I will have a dig out when I get home.

Always knew they were ahead of their time! (or chronic recyclers ;))

Sure you are already forgiven ;)
Were all of the 80's French gigs taped ? The setlists are known anyway.

oldmonkey That would be nice if you post that as a review here ![]()
I'm sending myself to the bottom of the class for having forgotten that jam, given that it was one of the more interesting moments in NO live history...
Anyway - Orleans was definitely taped. From the mixing desk if I remember right.

Yes, they are all available. We have soundboard recordings of Rennes and Orleans, and the 82 Paris show was also broadcast on FM Radio. The 85 show is badly edited, it sounds as though the taper was stopping the tape recorder after every song, which is a real pity!
Thanks for that fantastic version of 'Doubts even here' old blue just got round to down loading it. Are there better versions??

The best one in terms of sound quality that I've heard was seeded at Easytree earlier this year, it was on an alternate source of Nottingham 8-Apr-1981. Really clear vocals on that one!

Just sent it via Yousendit to your Hotmail address. I hope Lammah won't mind me converting this one file to mp3. ![]()
