Just got back from the Kimmel show

Happy to say the lads are in great form. Barney and Hooky seemed to really have a great time. Lots of chatting with the audience. Here's the complete setlist...

I'll second the review of the show. The band played just inside the old Masonic Temple where Kimmel is shot, where truthfully as my travelling partner noted, the sound ain't that great (Barney and Phil's guitars bled together a little). Nice cozy room though. The band were in high spirits and enjoyed themselves immensely. After the proper show was concluded and it was time for NO to play, the netire audience was ushered from the theater to the front room where only about 50 people were allowed right in front of the stage. The rest of us wee held back behind the "evil" red stansions to watch. First came Krafty on air, which was solid (during rehearsals which could be heard on the street, it sounded stronger vocally). Followed by LWTUA, which was started, stopped, and restarted for the cameras and sounded fantastic. Then WFTSC, which Barney struggled a hair with the vocals on this first time through (second time through was blistering and fantastic - this really should end the regular set). Next up, "we're ummm gonna play one from our last record, this is called "Crytal" which was great except for piping in Dawn's vocal. They really have this one down and i'm glad they do as it is a stormer live. Next, "we're goona play an old chestnut now - Temptation", which was incredible. At this point, Hooky realizing people were stuck in the back of the room came off the stage midway through Temptation and played to the back of the room beautifully. He walked along the red stansion and dropped down to play a killer version of Temptation. This was my highlight as I was along said stansion. This was my first time seeing the band ever and there he was, the reason I bought a bass guitar, literally staring me in the eye busting away on one of the great bass lines of our time. The conclusion was a blur, the aforesaid repeat of WFTSC, which I can tell again was fantastic. I think Barney really wants this one to fly live, as he again mentioned that it was his favorite new song. Closed with Transmission, which blows apart my one JD song theory for the shows. It was tight and Barney really let loose with lots of whoops and dance dance dance to the radio. I think the boys are in for a surprise when 3000 people sing along with them in NYC and Chi-town!!!!

Overall, an incredible experience!!!!

No they did not get interviewed. Barney and Hooky chatted a lot with the audience; Barney did his famous dance; Hooky walked up to everyone in the back, it was like he was playing just for you. At the end of Transmission Hook again jumed off the stage, played through the end of the song, walked all the way to the back of the audience, handed his bass to his 'Minder', and then picked up some girl and carried her down the stairs. Hilarious!

Barney was whooping, whistling and hollering through most of the songs. WFTSC and Transmission were really strong!

That girl was his daughter, it was very cute.

I was right up front when they played, second row, the white arms and the hand you see during the taped show..thats me...with bracelets...i was dancing and singing and screaming along with barney the whole time..much to the dismay of the incredibly nice guy in front of me (thanks for not killing me, and letting me use your mobile!)

i got steve morris and hooky's autographs after the show on my 7" procession...they were really nice...hooky said 'havent seen that one in a while' to my copy of procession haha...

they were so good...first time seeing them! roll on cochella i cant wait!

i cant believe they played so many songs at jimmy kimmel and im dismayed that only one and a half were televised cause the others were fanfreakingtastic!

Did the other Kimmel guests stay to watch New Order perform all the songs?

I saw Kevin Nelan after Krafty, but that's it. I was right in front of Hook, so I wasn't paying much attention, especially to the Maloof Bros.

I watched it (how could I not? After all these years, I'd have to return my "Sacred Brotherhood of the Order" decoder ring and "Barney Lyrics in Sanskrit" pamphlet), and liked "Krafty". I about when they started up LWTUA.

Any news on future TV gigs? It seems like (as opposed to GR) they really want this one to fly in America, or at least they're more likely to turn up on the tube now. I'd like to see them on Conan

Well, we saw some guests when they went to Love Will Tear Us Apart, so I guess the answer is yes.

Yeah, but that doesn't mean they were there for all the songs New Order played.

the two songs they aired live were weak.

I wish they had aired the ones you guys mentioned, like WFTSC and Temptation....

Cause the two they did air were honestly crappy. And I say this having seen new order over 10 times and being a musician and being a virtual lifelong fan who loves their latest lp.

I am just being honest. I think Hook was spot on. But Sumner seemed really tentative and constantly checking the autocue. He shouldn't need the autocue for songs as simple as Krafty and LWTUA!!!! come on sumner!

it seems like he yells and whoops in this sad anger of his own failure to sing well and hopes enough jumping and whooping will get the crowd pumped up, since the music ain't doin it...

sure hope NYC is more fun.... bummed....
