... well its taken since the release of 'Getting Things Ready' in the summer until Sunday, December the 30th 2001 before our champions the Order have finally received a modicum of justice in the press for their excellent efforts on this album.
Set amongst many 'End of the Year' compilations (books, films etc.) in the Daily Mail on Sunday, a guy called 'Tim de Lisle', who we can now refer to as, 'Tim is Cool', sighted New Order's 'Crystal' as 1st best 'Pop Song of the Year' !!! ahead of several 'typical choices'.
... and I quote:
'1.Crystal (New Order). The best fast song of the year - stirring, dynamic, defiant and perfectly crafted, a rare case of a comeback capturing the absoulte essence of a band.'
Now then, is that justice or is that justice!?
- Don' Stop Movin' (S Club 7)
- Can't Get You Out Of My Nostrils (Kylie Minogue) and so on.
Now to put the Order above such tunes definately showcases that there are still some journo's with an ounce of intelligence, musical comprehension and with the guile of a speeding fox escaping farmer Yakkers precise shotgun range to publish their true personal beliefs ahead of the usual filthy displays of predictability which we always seem to suffer. Sometimes you'd think journalists write what they think we want to read? ... in this case he has, but for the right reasons obviously.
I enjoyed reading this review, I hope you do my fellow love rats.
