Dave Thompson's new book; I notice it isn't in the discography yet. Has anyone else read it? It's pretty basic--mostly straightforward info. about JD, New Order and all the side projects, mostly in the form of a discography with commentary. It makes for pretty good bedtime reading. It seems to be pretty extensive (although there are people on this site who would know more about that aspect than I would). However, it does include the 'other site' in its bibliography!;)

I think its rubbish to be honest, nothing in there you couldn't find on here or "the other" site.

The best book (which I also have in mint condition, no offers) was by Claude Flowers, called Dreams Never End. Lots of good pics and seems well researched. I think the author actually had face time with key players including the band, Gretton, Wilson and Saville to name but a few. Had a look for it on Amazon, its not in print any more I don't think.

if you see it, buy it.

which is why it makes for good bedtime reading. although perhaps i have strange taste in bedtime reading choices--almanacs and such....

Sumner needs to pen a book....

But, it is too bad they are all worried about what their families will think and aren't gonna be very honest anymore...

The best interviews, thusly, are from the late 80s, when they were free to speak... Sumner admitted recently that he is careful about what he says nowadays, cause he has kids and etc that he doesn't want to get bad ideas....

but SOMEBODY needs to pen the real gritty backstage text...

I can't even f*ckin imagine the madness going on in Manchester in 1990 - 1993, with the side projects, jealousies, contracts, marriages, Morrisey etc, ecstacy, all combining into one crazy scene.... i just hope somebody remembers SOME of it someday...
