been a New Order fan since 1988. i'm 32 now, yet i came to the picture late. when Joy Division started out, i was only 4 years old (1977). they didn't get really popular in america until 1983 anyway when Blue Monday came out, so i feel i wasn't far off. i'm Korean-American living in suburban Philadelphia. why is New Order so popular amongst Asians who wee 80's children?! is it because they are emotional and intelligent and use electronics as instruments, as well as the stereotypical asian having a mathematical ability? cos every new order song reminds me of algebra, equations, and even chemistry and physics. it's like a science theorum that penetrates the mind, body, and soul teeming of sanguine characteristics.
the weird thing is, i stopped my binge drinking alcohol and i'm off of drugs finally when i started to listen to New Order and Joy Division again.
i long to see them live in concert. my sister and her friend and my old Korean church friends of the 80's got me into New Order, and i have no regrets of my favorite group of all time.
for some reason, NO reminds me of Stereolab, who i saw about 4 or 5 times already, easily one of my favorite groups of all time as well. i like intelligent, avante garde music.
so i saw them on The Jimmy Kimmel Show on Wednesday and i recorded their performance on my DVD recorder. i saw that Barney was playing one of my guitars --- a Fireglow 12-string Rickenbacker 360. i couldn't believe it-- one of my idols plays a Ric! my favorite type of guitars.
