Phil Morris and Stephen Collins?

Perhaps a stupid question, but it interests me...

Barney and Hooky both said that Stephen had the best voice of them all (perhaps a joke?). I read that Stephen didn't want to become the singer because he didn't want to be compared to Phil Collins...

Now I ask: is that because he would have been a singing drummer or because he has a similar voice, or both, or what?

Knowing Stevie boy, it was probably a joke.

He has a completely different singing voice/style to Phil Collins and although they are both superb drummers (I'm not a Phil Collins fan, but I recognise talent) they have very different drumming styles so - must have been a flippant comment, nothing more!

Does any proof of his singing voice exist anywhere?

Yup - Ceremony demo from years back.

If Steve was to sing, would he be just singing, no drumming. Maybe a new drummer? Or drum/vocals at the same time ala Lightning Bolt & Death From Above 1979?

Oi! Thought this was about Stephen Collins from "Star Trek: The Motion Picture" and "7th Heaven" fame....

I know, I'll get me coat..

Any idea where to get this or where to listen to it?

Perhaps Phil Collins would have taken his place as drummer...:evil4:

I think there was a download of it on NOOL at one point. Haven't checked to see if it's still there...

Unfortunately the quality is very very poor...

I thought of him first too, though I would have used a picture from Tales of the Gold Monkey.:thumb:

And Phil Morris sounds too close to the cigarette makers of the same name. :hat:

Better the new drummer... When Stephen begins to sing, there has to be a new one... But what does Barney do then? :confused2:

Still songwriting and no more use to go on tour. Must be fine for him... :evil4:

He sounds like Donald Duck singing Ceremony.

Stephen has always been ahead of his time, and knew that one day there would be a Joy Division tribute band called Digital. Unfortunately the radar wasn't quite working, as he hadn't predicted that Phil Collins would be the guitarist rather than the singer!
