Think most people would agree that turn is the best song on the album so why has it not been released as a single! Dont record companies listen to people I am sorry but Jetstream should never have been a single. I have heard that Waiting for Sirens is to be next single to I am very disappointed.

Agreed about TURN part. As for singles they release I couldn't care less.

funny how many times one statement can be repeated.

Turn is a Great song, but not single material....

singles are not meant for fans, but as a record company method to 'turn' on new folks to the lp, to increase sales...

i.e. Jetstream is a great single, cause it might get NEW fans into the band....

Fans already OWN the album, so what point is there in putting out Turn as a single?

It is not a pop hit. It IS a great song. (though it does sound a bit too Electronic for me... but I guess Bernard is running things like a dictator now...)

Guilt would be a great next single... something for the club remixes and to play on the radio in the summer to hook the kids as new fans....

Plus, singles demand remixes. Turn is not really remix friendly (yeah yeah I know ANYTHING can be remixed these days, but they usually suck.... ) - now, remixes of Guilt would be amazing....

I say all this knowing that Turn is a better example of songwriting than Guilt.... but we need to remember WHY singles exist....

are you crazy waiting for the sirens call in an incredible song one of the best song on the album and i am not surprised that it is released as a single

we were talking about TURN...

yes, WftSC IS an amazing song, better even than Turn...

but, again, I bring up my TIRED argument, that it takes more than just a damn fine amazing fan-endearing song to make a Single.... I mean, if I were GOD, I would have Haystack, Dead Souls, Your Silent Face, Sunrise, and Dream Attack as singles.... but that would just be silly...

look fellas, we OWN the lp... we HAVE the songs.... WHY do we want them as singles??? (if you want to make your own radio edits, just load up the lp versions in your audio editor and trim out one minute....)

singles are for NON fans, i.e. for folks who have not even heard about Neworderonline....

get a grip....

Actually most agree that Waiting For The Sirens' Call is the best song on the album... :D

While listening to Vanishing Point earlier today I noticed that in the chorus Barney also does the low voice fade out just like in Turn...strange coincidence huh?

Have to agree with Tarbox on this one. Turn and Waiting are not single material as brilliant as they both are. Keep'em on the album. Guilt is the obvious choice but I would now go for I Told You So as an end of summer single. Might even get invited back on the Jonathan Ross Show.:uhoh:

I think it really depends as to who you are targeting when you talk about the next "single".

Do you really believe that 12-17 year old girls are going to get into music by a bunch of 50 somethings?? I am still baffled that the record company is trying to market NO as some sort of POP/Dance band when the market has clearly moved to more moody/meloncholy songs from artists like Coldplay and Keane (yeah I know noone here likes them that much)....but Turn easily fits in that mold and they certainly are commercially very successful.

WFTSC and Turn could be played next to U2, Coldplay, Keane etc on any major radio station around....where the hell is JET, Guilt or Krafty supposed to fit in to airplay?? None of them are edgy enough to be revolutionary and mostly they are way to saccharine to fit in with any normal alternarock format...

Turn could easily be a great single and probably would be?Its got the lot, and so has the title track:music:

Well said. Turn would do well on radio I would think, it's just that if there's no bsides then what do you put on the single? Remixes?! That'd surely destroy the song. Some songs just shouldn't be remixed, IMO. This is certainly one of them and WFTSC. By the way, I do think Turn is even better than WFTSC. They are #1 and #2, respectively, with GIAUE trailing at #3.

Just my opinion, though.

Let's see:

Low-life had 2 singles Brotherhood had 2 (if you count the 'bonus' CD track) Technique had 3 (well 2.5) Republic had 4 Get Ready 2 WFTSC could have up to 4 then I guess!?

I would like to see Turn & Guilt as a double a-side single, agree with most that turn is not remixable but guilt certainly is.

So you could have: cd 1 Turn [Radio Edit] Guilt [Radio Edit] Guilt [Remix1]

cd 2 Turn [Album Version] Guilt Guilt [Remix3]

I do believe I tend to agree with Senor Tarbox for once.

yeah singles where NO are concerned are really just what can be remixed - and hence I expect Guilt will have a large part to play in the next single release.

Don't really see the attraction with Turn to be honest. It's pleasant enough but not a patch on the title track, and I'd say it's inferior to the first 6 tracks (except ITYS of course)

Well, SB2, I feel very differently. I'm not saying Turn should be a single, but for me it's the single best thing they have ever done.

I know you feel strongly about it Patrick, as do a good many others, strangely it just doesn't quite hit the spot for me

Fcuk me. Never thought I'd see the day when I agreed with you soo much !

It's hard for me to imagine that there are not quite a few people who are not currently fans of NO that might well like Turn a lot, if they were ever to have the chance to hear it.

Keep singles separate from albums I say. Worked for Factory! ;)

don't you think Guilt is more Electronic than Turn? at first listen, when i've heard Guilt i thought it was a discard from Raise The Pressure. Just a thought. Anyway, i agree 100% with you about how record companies choose singles.

Yes,true.....But when record companies Fuck up the choosing of the single, and don't get many new fans, but do get alot of people who used to like them, saying"I think I will give their new album amiss, they suck these days."Then we have a problem. With a band like new order,at the age they are, their fan base will not be swelled by many 10-15yr olds, even if it has sissor sisters on marracas.Sorry but it won't:shrug: Jetstream is is a poor song in its own right:nono: and should never been a single:shades:

Actually...singles are not for "fans". They are used for record companies to promote and increase sales of the album. Factory was an exception and not the rule. Regret worked just fine as a single as did Forbidden City...neither of them are dancy songs to start with.

60 mph worked just fine with all of the other remixes of SLY attached....so why wouldn't Turn work as the song promoted (which would sell more records) and have the remixes of Jetstream or Guilt behind the title track??

I want NO to keep being promoted (and paid) so that they will keep putting out new material. If they don't make money and get dropped....well then there is no new material.

Jetstream won't work to sell more records...my opinion...and we'll see if it does or not.

Turn as a single, would Turn on music fans over 12 years old:shades: Which are the realistic target for a band of 50 year olds.Instead they are turning them off with this Jetsream fuck up  Wake Up!!:shades: :music:

Turn is fantastic, Jetstream is average. People would rather listen to the former than the latter. Seems pretty obvious really.

Songs released as singles reflect whats popular at the moment and they all eventually sound DATED. It seems that those songs don't stand the test of time, and it doesn't help if the single is played out. Remixes sound even MORE dated.

Quality songs like Turn and WFTSC (which I don't expect to do that well as a single) will still sound great 10 years from now.

to be honest I think Turn would have done considerably worse as a single. It sounds way too similar to the other bands out there.

Jetstream is at least different, and people will hear and pick up on the chorus - I don't think thats true of Turn. The hardcore would buy it and no-one else. I also think a decent amount of the JS single sales will have been club kids after the excellent remixes.

WFTSC could and maybe should have been the first single, simply because it's the best track on the album by a distance, and should have been showcased as soon as possible. It's also very NO sounding where musically Turn could have been just about anyone.

All in my opinion of course.
