Pumped Full of Drugs DVD

Just wanted to let everyone know that the PFD DVD recently released in Japan contains absolutely no bonus material. What you get on the DVD is exactly what you already have on the VHS.

Whatever happened to the three "missing" songs from this gig? Have they ever been in circulation on VHS or cassette?

I watched PFD again last night. it's a good show but i wish the Doncaster Club show from the same year had been video'd. They start with Perfect Kiss into Ceremony and then Thieves Like Us...who was there that night(18april1985)? i like the gigography online but i wish you guys who saw the order tons in the 80's would start submitting your memories to the tours&concert section of this site so i don't have to surf around.

As much as I *love* that gig, the cost of importing a Japanese copy is just a lottle bit prohibitive currently. Bugger! :(

A pleasure ! Support was the Beloved, mates of mine, who were very nervous but did a pretty good set considering they were massive New Order fans and it was only their fourth gig.

New Order were on sparkling form, with a good mix of old and new (We All Stand, Hurt and Chosen Time thrown into the mix). Seem to remember Barney going on about Pernod half the night. A different sort of night to the Salford show the night before or the Brum and Swansea shows the week before, and different again to Macclesfield the night after. Good all the same though. I was fairly intoxed towards the end, but went home happy with Temptation in my ears and a smile in my heart. Can't think of much else 17 years on !!! Want a tape ?

Beloved, that rings a bell. Did they have a minor alternative hit in the mid to late eighties? I probably wouldn't have heard them in '85 but closer to '88.

The Beloved were great. Happiness is still one of my favorite albums. The videos were great too but i lost my copy. I have the Doncaster gig on CD but thanks anyway. Jeff, have you been listening to Joy Division? 350125 go!

Hello sounds right, Jeff. That takes me back to the days when I would stay up late on Sunday night to watch 120 minutes with Dave Kendall (was that his name?) on MTV. Somebody told me that his accent was a big put on and that he was really from States somewhere. Then he had that crappy late night music show for about a week.

Well, regardless of whether Dave was a fake or not, he was sure better than Lewis Largent. There's not much job security in being a VJ. At least Dave would piss people off on occasion, though I'll be damned if I can remember who. I think Thurston Moore from Sonic Youth and perhaps Beck when "Loser" first came out.

Ah, The Beloved - I was lucky enough to meet Jon Marsh years ago and he was an absolute sweetie. :)

I always thought 'Slow Drowning' was the best non-Joy Division Joy Division song I ever heard. :)

Jon's a great guy - he used to send me live tapes the night after they had done the gig. Little known fact that you can hear my bass on one gig !! He fell out with Hooky after the Hemel 85 show though and couldn't get any more support slots, which was a real pity for them (and me, as I got guest list tix for all their shows). Dozens of unheard Beloved tracks if anyone is interested !!

They did a quick appearance at a club here back when it was just Jon and Steve (after 'Happiness' came out) - Jon and i chatted for a while inside, and we ran into him outside as we were leaving and chatted more for about half an hour. SUCH a nice guy, he was really sorry for having to go as they had a plane to catch - what a sweetie! :)

Agh, I sound like an icky slimy groupie now. :(

As for the unheard stuff - ooh! But as you've been so generous of late I don;t wish to push my luck. Typically the ONE CD in my collection that is damaged and won;t play properly is 'Where It Is' - which of course is IMPOSSIBLE to get hold of any more. :(

Also, Jon Marsh rivals even my, not inconsiderable, Countdown skills. The Sun Rising is probably their greatest legacy, that one will still be played in 20 years.
