Not bad at all, a better memory than me! Subculture is showing on this site and WIM as highest position 7.....surely that's not right.

Was gonna mention you missed out the only #1 ! What about Run and Temptation [29?] ?
RIAD got to #22, which currently makes Jetstream their most successful 2nd single from an album ever ! Ok, it's gonna drop below 22 by Sunday and volume of sales-wise it will be well below that of previous releases, the singles market aint what it use to be.
It's not my favourite track off the album, but I can understand why it's been released and can accept the commerciality of it too. Do we really think any other track released would be doing any better ? don't kid yourselves.

Crystal, IMHO, is the best track from anyone, anywhere, released in the 21st century. Nothing else comes close.
Just goes to show the singles chart doesn't reflect artistic quality, just what 10 - 19 year olds think is good.

So Johnny, the only reason why Krafty did better than this is because the album wasn't released yet right?
I'm still surprised.. I would have expected better ranking due to the Scissor Sisters factor, I mean, any New Order track can do that, so why bother.. 
I'd love to see the airplay chart though.. you must have some of these in the UK eh?

If some of the 'ardcore fans, are gonna be alienated cos of one single, then they aren't that 'ardcore after all. NO have enough good-will built up to risk an alternative approach to marketing an album. We used to love all the wacky Factory marketing ideas....cassettes in linen boxes, 12" only releases, the cataloging system...didn't matter then did it ?. Or was that cool, but collaborating with the new star on the block aint cool ?
So I don't buy the stick-to-your-fan-base theory. Prefer them to be brave, even if it means making a few mistakes. I love that about NO.
The mainstream embracing WiM could have sent a lot of old skool fans packing, did it ? I dunno, but three years later NO delivered their biggest selling studio album.
I would have preferred them to have asked Ana to sing on Guilt, a more commercial track IMHO. We agree on the title track tho - a classic !

Don't really know about Krafty, but being the comeback single, pre album release and most people would say its a stronger track than Jetstream, would all have an impact.
Haven't seen the airplay charts but that's a massive factor. Most, if not all the tracks listed in the mid week top 10 will be A listed on Radio 1 i.e. gauranteed a minimum number of plays per day, dunno how many but its a decent number of spins. NO are targeted more by Radio 2 these days which has an older set of listeners. You need to have heavy rotation [natch] on Radio 1 to stand the best chance in the charts and get people interested in you. So how might NO achieve that? well you can't help but think that having the lead singer from the biggest selling album in the UK in 2004 on your single might help ?.

i'm not gonna lie to you, i'm happy if a song i like do well in the charts, but never question the quality if it bombs.

*If the album hadn't already been released it could have been an idea, but not at this point... WFTSC with a B side or some live tracks (they have thousands for fuckssake, why do they always have to fill the single with remixes when they can sell more with live tracks?) could do well...

Basically I said that doing what they do best, New Order mantain a hardcore fanbase which is not actually diminishing, but increasing thanks to the fact that many fans of their contemporaries like Depeche Mode, Pet Shop Boys and The Cure are very disappointed from their latest albums and they may look at New Order. *World In Motion was a triumph, it was a football anthem, and New Order fans are usually football fans, it was a great tune, and the most of the indie snobs had already run away with previous pop singles, which won a new share of fanbase, while this isn't happening now. The mistake is probably to run after the kids who buy the Scissor Sisters. I love Jetstream and was expecting success too, but maybe it's just people are less open minded than we'd like them to be. That's why Oasis are still number one, they're the safe choice, you'll always know how they sound like... people just wanna be treated like idiots and pleased. I don't think New Order should stop experimenting at all, if you hear I Told You So, that's an experimental track within the classic New Order style... And after all, New Order have been around for 25 years, they can relax now, nobody complains because the Rolling Stones always sound like themselves, Don't Stop was a great tune and they still fill stadiums... WFTSC is a classic New Order song, a great song, it won't disappoint anyone and will sell well. If the singles of the next album are in the same vein without trying to attract the fans of whatever contemporary band with whatever special guest, I just think we can all be happy and there's nothing wrong with it... Yeah, but I wrote many other things...

That's a strange one - midweek it was reportedly at number 19 and come the weekend it only slipped one place to 20. Thus exceeding my own expectations of where it was going to enter. This makes me wonder who exactly went out and bought it on saturday - some late Scissor Sisters fans perhaps feeling a tad sheepish about admitting they actually like New Order as well?? Things get stranger! 
Still a cack song though, isn't it Michael......Michael, where the hell have you disappeared to all of a sudden? Has your mission been accomplished now? Or have you hung yourself cos it actually went top 20 and not stiffed like a dead duck as you so desperately wished for it to?

Er.....have you not been paying attention? Jetstream made number 20, not 19 !!! 
Subculture made number 63. But still spent FOUR weeks in the top 75 surprisingly enough.
Even the first PEEL SESSIONS release ever (SPF001) was a chart entry for New Order - making number 54 the same week as State Of The Nation - giving them FOUR top 60 chart entries that year - and the only time they ever had TWO separate releases both chart at the same time (looks like many NO fans have forgotten about that one eh???)
