Just finished Krafty Phil was wearing some garage type jumpsuit with 'Wrong' [?] written as the nametag. Thought they were using a tape for backup vocals but saw Dawn for like one second near the end.
Watch yer handbag with arrows pointing to the Coral.
BTW the Coral are not scousers they are from the wirral.
Still quite amusing though!

The performance was ace. Dawn was there - she's sounding great. Hooky and Bernard could be heard jamming over the opening credits which also sounded good.
They will be interviewed later in the show.

The interview was good they mentioned Bernard's boat Control - [Johnny Vegas playing Hooky, I hope that's a joke, JV is so unfunny] showed a clip of She's Lost Control and for advice for upcoming bands, Steve said "go to bed and get a good night's sleep" I think Hooky said "keep an eye on your singer"

And that Coral gimp does look like him out of the La's, but he tried to mimic Curtis in their last song,ever so slightly..Maybe Ian is hero of his.......The order were Quality,Barney is always value for screwing up his lines always recovers with a nonchalant grace
Hooky seemed a little more irritated with Barney in the interview,than usual

- Holy good fuck.....did New Order just take a gig seriously? that was really really good. Even transmission didn't make me cringe.
2.I'm shocked at how blinkered some of my fellow orderites seem. I liked just about everything I heard on that show. Least fave was prob Faith wasserface, cos I really don't go much for that kind of souly/r+b thing. But my faves were son of dave ( I mean come ON, the man made entire tracks that held together fabulously with a couple of loop pedals, a harmonica and his gob, even if you thought it was pigshit, you gotta admit the talent) and accoustic ladyland, brilliant musicians....now fair enough, a 74 mins cd of that stuff would cause my brain to liquify, but I'm sure they do other things. I admit tho, that music of that type is really only of interest to other musicians and pretneious jazz cunts ( who are deeply hated by any decent jazzer I ever spoke to..."dinnerjacket, silent sitting, solo clapping dull as dishwater wankers" was the assessment of the average Jazz audience by a well respected jazz orchestra leader I know)....and even the muso's get bored and feck off to the bar after 20 mins. I do like the idea of people learning to be astonishing on their instruments. then decide to go mental and make a racket.....it's the opposite of NO, who with the exception of Steve can't play (by pro standards) for shite....yet turn out some of the most beautiful music man has ever known. What the noisey little kiddies need to learn is to play the nice stuff too, THEN make all the clever noise, but sadly there comes a point in a musicians ability where they truly DO vanish up there own hole. I watched that happen to a fellow bassplyer from college, he could kick my ass, and it annoyed me, but I had it explained to me, that I was the bassplayer getting all the gigs cos I knew "how to fuck up and groove", and that I never ever picked the bass up between gigs or sessions, and the other chap had no life cos he played like 8 hrs a day. A few years after college he came back over from England with his band, every one of them a total virtuoso, every song total and complete pish.....imagine a noise like accoustic ladyland, but with idiotic John Zorn time and tempo changes every 3 bars. AAAARRRRRRGGGGGHHHH
Put it this way, Epileptic Laddered Tights are only good for one thing.....and that is the resident band of jizzbo nutters you'd expect to see in that Fast Show Jazz Club sketch. Totally unsyncopated novelty garbage!

well the show is sat on my hard drive and ive flicked through a few times. tbh KRAFTY is poor,cmon be honest. wftsc is a cut down version,and transmission was ok,but is it me or did they look and sound a bit tired?. and i add i wasnt expecting much,but wftsc was good i must admit,but for me the opening credit was the bonus. others will confirm but was it INCUBATION that was being played as the intro to the show? sure sounded like it.

Oui, c'est très vrai! In fact if they really wanted to impress us, they SHOULD have instead attempted a cover version of that John Cage track "Silence (4min 37secs)" - though I bet even then you'll still hear the swishing of that drummers humungous hair.

Contrary to popular belief Barney's Autocue does NOT feature any lyrics to the songs they play - instead it actually shows lots of tantalisingly droolsome pictures of tempting desserts and cakes and roast dinners and beer and sex and chips and gravy as a way of taunting him whilst he's performing - you see that's why he gets so wound up singing - he grunts and yelps and whoops and coughs and HUUURRRGHHH!!s - cos he simply cannot wait to get off that stage and stuff his fat face with all that yummy scran again.

Missed the jam over the intro, Krafty was OK but then it's not my favourite, WFTSC was superb as you'd expect, and I thought the dedication to IC was a nice touch - "Ian Curtis died 25 years ago so we'd like to play this song for him, it's a Joy Division song called Transmission". Not exactly word for word but you catch my drift. Sure someone will correct this now. Roll on Hyde Park...

Barneys dancing reminded me of David Brent. Good show though. They all looked very comfortable in front of the cameras. Made me laugh when they said Stephen Morris looks like Jools Holland.
Acoustic Ladyland -crazy name. crazy guys - did two songs 'Thing' and 'Iggy' and were a real shot in the arm for these jaded ears, I'm gonna buy some stuff. Thought the Coral were sharp as well, NO were NO, not much to write home about.

As for those "other" acts that were on. Guys, you gotta learn the difference between what's shite and what you don't like, it's actually possible to dislike people who are very good, and like people who are very bad ( check the title bar of your browser for instance), both situations are cool. But to say people are crap, untalented or a joke, when they are none of those, and the truth is you don't like em, that's just silly.
Accoustic ladyland were exceptionally talented musicians, that horrid noise thay made was intensely tight and clever. You have thought it sounded bloody awful, that's cool, but you cannot say they can't play, cos I doubt anyone here could play half as well, I certainly couldn't.

I went I voted and I lied. Cos I kinda thought son of dave was the best thing on it, certainly the most original and very talented.BUT, it's the best I've heard New Order play in a hell of a long time. But I'll have to watch again, to see if this bloke who's leading was any better than the supermarker music the first notes sounded like when I stabbed "mute".

Well, I just watched it, after a rought day of painting and moving.
I must say, I thought New Order lost it when I saw them at the NME Awards and on the Canal+ Sessions, but since then, they are improving each time I see them... !!!
What can I say, flawless performance, quite enjoyable... ok, small mistakes here and there, but what do you want, Bernard has always had problems with singing and playing at the same time so he needs an autocue to remember the lyrics but he still fook up sometimes.
That's ok, he's allowed to, if you want perfect New Order, you listen to the studio material.
I'm quite happy they did WFTSC instead of Jetstream... I came to the conclusion that Jetstream was imposed by the label, seeing it bomb so badly in the charts, it prooved their point! and now they don't have to do it with Ana Matronic by their side.
I don't know why New Order doesn't tour with Dawn Zee... she should be there, and I also don't get why Phil is NEVER there when they do interviews... isn't he a FULL member now? 
Anyways, let's be honest, I have the feeling that the upcoming gigs will only get better... I still wish I could do Hyde Park... but I'll survive!
I agree, they are getting better each time, some bands don't even tackle playing live on tv, so respect there.
WFTSC was a good choice, and I am glad they did Transmission, instead of LWTUA, if only to have decent dvd quality clip of it to keep.
However, I would really like them to play TURN.

Shame I hope it doesn't go the way of things like "someone like you" and "Here to Stay", as it's a much more accessable track (much as I adore the others)
EDIT: I always feel ill watching NO do transmission, it just rings false somehow, I think of all the JD songs they do, it suffers most from not having Ian's power behind the vocal. However, I really enjoyed this version.
Thumbs up from me, although I also thought there was something missing from the sound, it wasn't LOUD enough, espescially the drums and the Bass. Phil has really settled in and added an extra dimension to the guitar parts of the songs while Barney is singing, and he's showed that he's not bad on the ole keyboards either. I agree with Nic, it's about time we heard Phil in an interview....but then again, it's very rare we hear from Steve cos of Barney and Hooky, so what chance does poor ole Phil have!?!
A solid enough performance, the vocals always seem on edge at the start till Barney settles into the song. Nic also mentions the songs have been getting better each time live, and I also agree, which is why I still can't believe the furore over the Jonathon Woss performance
Krafty was good, WFTSC was even better, and I thought that Transmission topped the lot. Ok so they'll never be the greatest live band, but for me I couldn't care less. It adds to the charm don't it

yes overall they was great,even though as others have pointed out the sound seemed a bit dull??,but when i play it back through my pc it seems to have improved??. something i noticed after watching this a few times is that barney has a backing vocal tape with his own voice for the chorus on wftsc. its obvious he wasnt miming(who could mime and still be that bad eh)but it did suprise me.
Aye, the bridging and backing vox, along with some KB noises and spot noises are coming in off the evil HD recorder ( Or Phils got a talented nob). Personally I would rather they used a sequencer a sampler, cos at least that's 2 living machines playing the stuff, with potential for doing their own thing and so on, rather than poopy old works-perfectly-or-not-at-all HD.
As for the Dull sound....I didn't think it was too bad, but have not listened to it cranked yet.
However, in an environment like that, typically the band's backline will be lower than they would ideally use on stage, in some cases because it can obliterate the house PA, but usually cos TV types are level ponces and clean signal freaks. It can take a fair chunk of the sparkle out of playing, and even make normally enjoyable songs quite hard work.....not least because you hear your little fook ups more, and therefor make bigger ones.
Would that tally with the experiences of some of the other people who play here? And indeed, would anyone who was there care to comment on what the sort of PA level was, and how much noise the bands were making without it (assuming you were used as standard BBC accoustic dampening during the soundcheck)
We thoroughly enjoyed the Jools Holland show and Tricia asked me the following pertinent questions:
- Why doesn't Jools Holland do a jam with New Order like he does with other famous bands?
and:
- Why doesn't anyone ever interview the anoracky guy (Phil) - I thought you said he was a 'proper' member' of New Order?
She also pointed out that:

Dawn is there - I've seen her live!' (jumping excitedly)
At least they didn't play 'Jetstream'
I hope they're that good when we see them at Finsbury... I mean Hyde Park...

I've just watched the footage as I was out on the sauce on Friday night. Not bad overall.
For those that missed it, it kicked-off with Krafty with WFTSC later, then an interview with that oily git Holland and Transmission to finish. Did you notice they didn't have the strings run towards the end of WFTSC and just went back into the play-out? Seeing as Phil was playing guitar at this point, I suppose they couldn't be arsed running it as a sequence!
If anyone missed all this and wants it all on an old-fashioned PAL VHS video-cassette, get in touch as I've got it all and can knock you out a copy.

Quite simple really, WMV usually has the best size/quality ratio and the encoder is free.. Real Media is not what many people want apparently, plus I managed to encoded the DVD into WMV, but Real Producer Basic won't do it.
Also, if I do a DivX AVI, many people won't be able to read it because they don't have the codec, although all WMV can be read on 90% of the computers worldwide.
So you see, it's hard to please everybody !! last time I posted MPEG up, I had several people unable to read them!
Media formats in windows drive me looney, I've seen WMP return all manner of errors, can't do this, that's not a valid class, the other's not found....then made the same file open in mplayer in linux.
EDIT: forgot to say, your reasons seem fair enough BTW, just in case the rest of this gives you the opposite impression.
"oh shut up you whinging geek" I hear you say, but no....there is a point. For most formats, and especially closed ones owned by people like u-know-who, mplayer uses the VERY SAME codecs....mostly the same versions and sometimes scraped off your own winbox.

Linux video stuff can be a whore to install if you have the wrong distro, it can also be unfathomably difficult to work out the first thing....it get's easier as you go, until you're just getting stupid and arrogant, and turning avi's into dvd's by typing one word and the filename and the like. In windows ( ie when th penguin stuff was beyond me.....ie before I got gentoo) it's all so fluffy and easy and pretty, untill you spend 49 hours waiting on a movie transcoding from mpeg1ntsc to mpeg2pal, only for it to error out after 30 hours, and for the half complete files to have wandering (not offset, wandering) soundsync. That's when I bailed.

Actually, watching it again this morning i noticed a lot more Phils Wah Wah wank guitar style on Transmission.He really is making New Order just A.N. Other rock band with that shit isnt he?
