Today as I walked into Burger King on my lunch break, guess what I heard playing? Regret! Not only that but the guy in front of me (young, about 20) was singing along to it with great enthusiasm. I went to him "New Order, class arn't they". He was just like "Yeah".

This is a very rare occasion in the south of the UK. Definately a first, hardly anyone knows NO down here.

Missionaries have to be sent out then...

I do my missionary work in my working place (cinema!). When the doors are still closed and I'm assembling my working place (ice- and coffeebar) there's always New Order resounding in the foyer-speakers. ;)

One day my co-workers will crucify me for that, but then I'm the first N.O.-martyr in history...

I never said that. I'm 18 myself. The reason I stated this was because not a lot of the people in our age range have even heard of them, from what i've found anyway. It was great to hear and see.

I just found the whole thing surprising, it added to my day.

Owned, run and marketed as a seperate firm - part of Diageo who are majorly Irish/Scottish (merger between Guinness and United Distilleries).

Well, when I work at Dairy Queen, I'll play some tapes over the speaker - NO's "Substance", PSB's Please, Smiths' The Queen is Dead, Depeche Mode's Violator, Disintegration, and Electronic's first album. Another co-worker of mine also likes synthpop, so we'll sing along with the lyrics, except for when she puts Devo in. No one's ever commented on it, except for when I put in the second side of PSB's "Please" on the speakers when a Christian youth group came into the store last summer.

I sort of daren't ask what did that Christian youth group say...

I heard Regret in the Gap, the one-stop indie kid shop, and just today I saw Bernard and Steve on MTV asking essentially asking Coldplay why they decided to ripoff their sound.

Wasn't Adam alluding more to the fact that he was shocked New Order were heard Darn Sarf cos, of course, all their fans are Norverners?!

I think you'll find Hollyoaks is a Northern programme, no?!

Watched my Southerners, of course, cos we've got electricity.

I heard the same while shopping in two different Fred Meyer stores (I think I was in the garden section). Maybe they use the same tapes/satellite service for big box stores?

Don't rise to it Noel. You don't need to. The whole point stems from their jealousy about the better quality of life you've got ;)
