You've been eager to know, here is the reason WHY Huntsman was banned immediatly, without notice, and to say he DOES NOT know is not of good faith or lacks intelligence, which doesn't seem to be the case, because Huntsman is a master when it comes to demagogy and manipulation.
Nicholas "Huntsman" Heywood has the #1 rank when it comes to messages posted on this forum. Didn't you ever wonder why? Do you really think this man has posted over 1600 messages and that they were all meaningful?
Oh, at first, it was a good laugh. Pringles and all. Okay, that's fine. And then, it came to several and endless messages filled with one-liners talking about NOTHING. Using the forum as a chat room, CHAT ROOM REFERENCING TO Internet Relay Chat (IRC) MR. HEYWOOD.
It came to a point where we, the webmasters, received messages in our mailboxes saying how difficult it was becoming to find New Order news on the forum and how irrelevant it was becoming because of this. I (the designated moderator for this website's main forum, the guy who was chose to do the dirty jobs and look like the bad guy while the other webmaster would look like the nice one -- but it's always been like this since NewOrderOnline was launched at that was fine with me because someone had to take this role and I was better than the soft-spoken Nicolas for this ans it's always been the case, as a reflection of our personnalities) -- has to ask Huntsman, and a few other people as well, to post more meaningful material.
It did happen for a while, but quickly it was business as usual all over again. Everyone on this board will know that I was a fan of Huntsman during a certain period of time, like a lot of other people here, and was very pleased with his contribution. At one point, when he reached his 1000th post, I even asked Nicolas if he could burn a CD-R filled with New Order rarities so that we could send him graciously with compliments of NewOrderOnline.com. Nicolas didn't really care to do that, and after a while I told myself "ah, who cares anyway -- I don't even know that guy!". Huntsman himself, if he's honest, will admit that I asked him TWO times on this forum publicly to send me an e-mail and, in private, asked him to send me his address, which he did.
So when it became business as usual again, this is where the now famous Community Standards were installed. We thought that, by putting guidelines, it would be easier for everyone to know in which direction we were hoping this forum would be going. And I must say that it was a huge success 95% of the time, as you all know it.
I always said, and God knows why some people seem to think the contrary, that OFF-TOPIC MESSAGES WERE WELCOMED ON THIS FORUM. I said it MANY times. What is unacceptable is not off-topic messages here and there, but off-topic messages that become DISRUPTIVE to this site's main goal: New Order.
Huntsman has made a specialty of these types of messages. Not only him, of course, since most of his messages were often interacting with people like Liv, Fac21, Buster Klumpy, Muffy, Shug, Timmah Jauncey, Seb Briggs, etc. etc. No finger pointing here (what would it change anyway, based on the fact that most of these people think I'm a fucking idiot and are not shy to say it). I want to illustrate what I mean. You have a situation where the same 5-6 people take control over the whole message board, while we have MORE THAN 3500 REGISTERED MEMBERS ON THE SITE. I'm sorry, but even if I may think the world of you guys, I have to consider these hundreds of other members as well.
But we were always tolerant with Huntsman, as well with other members which we "labelled" as being "constant off topic posters" or even "spammers" to a certain point (Martin Gray being one, as I publicly stated in the past). I DID NOT LIKE THE WAY THINGS WERE TURNING, but I kept from saying anything, and eventually, New Order finished their European Tour and there was not much to talk about NewOrderwise, so off-topic discussions were more than welcomed... unless they were an excuse for over-swearing or spamming, which was often the case in the past.
And then, Morris Fan's Joy Division Thread. I didn't see that one before and I was sorry I didn't. I understood later the reaction of someone like Muffy, when put in context, but some others were totally unjustified and I thought they were really unfair to Morris Fan. The fact that these harsh comments directed at MF came by people who are labelled as "common off-topic posters" made it worst in my mind. AND THEN HUNTSMAN came with this, AND THIS IS THE CORE OF THE REASON WHY HE WAS BANISHED. Let me quote him and then comment:
Well this is the first time I've entered this threadbare and 'cor blimey what the holy moly just went on in here then? ... is it like a proper scrap or what? ... still can't believe old Sebsy Boisy Feet's still banging on about people who go off-topic when he does it himself a billion times a day, not wanting to mention Canadian sports or anything. And just which faceless toe-rags are e-mailing you instead of voicing their opinions? ... do they have a name or should we refer to them as just 'a cat'.
Huntsman first comment was, in my view, not only unfair, but truely demagogic and based on nothing, since, let me repeat, I ALWAYS SAID THAT OFF-TOPIC MESSAGES WERE ALLOWED ON THE FORUMS, and that while maybe 20% of my messages are usually off-topic, 90% of Huntsman's are. Quite a difference, and that smokescreen he created wasn't very welcomed on my part.
The other registered users on this site do not need to do everything as you do, and they earn our respect as much as they should respect you. And most of all: they don't owe you nothing.
Seems to me like a few people have got hot under the collar bone over several issues crossing many and various threadbares, conflicting between people's opinions.Whoever wrote 'not intellectual enough' wants a fucking boot up the bastard arse.
Well, then it has to be ME. And I think Huntsman knew that.
The mere notion of this infers you are a tosser of legendary proportions and I can understand how the magical MuffMan has taken exception to this. Surely this place isn't where fellow comrades shout such unnecessary dribble at one another is it? ... I mean, not intellectual enough ... ha! ... 'tis made me chuckle and laugh out loud. Whoever said that wants to take a Mensa test and post the results so we can all have a good laugh. I mean, for fuck's sake ... you can't judge a cat by its whiskers can you? ... how can you derive who's the more intelligent in this crazy place!!!?
Well, for Huntsman's own cultural benefit, let me underscore that there is QUITE a difference between being an intellectual and being intelligent. The second one would have been very offensive, and it's not exactly a compliment to anyone. The first one is quite different: not anyone is an intellectual and it's fine! Many intelligent people are not intellectuals, they do not get any type of boost or high from discussing about theories or the fate of the world or God knows what we can think of that usually implies a lot of thinking, but that doesn't make them less intelligent.
Huntsman's comments offended me not only because of the tone he took (not very polite to say the least), but because he tried to label me as someone who think he's better than all the others around here, and in a very demagogic way. And that made me mad. It was the drop that created the flood.
Huntsman, knowing very well the support and popularity he has among the forum's regular members, has been acting as if he became bigger than the site. And that was enough for me to send a message to anyone who might have the same opinion about themselves.
But above that, and saying the contrary would be very hypocritical on my part, I did not work for nights and nights and days and weeks and months on this website to get these types of insults (to "want a fucking boot up the bastard arse" and to be "a tosser of legendary proportions") from a perfect stranger at the other side of the Atlantic Ocean who seems to think he's the King of the World.
If Nicholas Heywood doesn't have respect for the rules of this website nor does he has respect for me, the conceptor of a large part of this website, then he is not welcomed here as far as I am concerned.
And if it would mean for 10 or 20 other people to follow him and quit this website, that wouldn't change a thing for me because I wouldn't want to run a website where people hate my guts anyway, and also because I have too much dignity to let this influence me. For some reason, a few people among you seem to think that you are giving me a PRIVILEDGE by posting on this forum and that you could tell me how to run my own website by threatening to take that priviledge away.
I'm sorry to say this, but those among you who will choose this path will be hugely disappointed.
End of part 1.
