The whoops are fine (most of the time)- I also like the occasional screamed whoop (BLT on the '87 live disc)
The whistles are fooking annoying.
Whoops, but only just...
Whoops are the best of the Barney madness, but I also love whistles, "hey"s, "come on"s, the Hamster Whell Dance etc.

and prefer old style discreet temptation type whoops rather than the louder in yer face ones

Whooopps...it's another whistle... I couldn't bring myself to vote for either.
I hate both in JD songs - Barney even had a few 'boos' from the audience last time I saw them when he 'whooped' during Atmosphere.
If he wants to ruin N.O. songs, that's up to him - he's the singer and wrote the lyrics. They just don't fit with JD songs at all and render them almost unlistenable 
i reckon we should get hooky singing again, so barney can concentrate on his guitar.
when barney sings, he whoops, whistles and dances like a chimp and he can't even remember the lyrics (has to use an autocue). sometimes very irritating to watch - although,sometimes quite amusing. does barney realise what a chimp he looks like on stage these days? would love an interviewer to ask him about it!
On one of the two DVDs is a scene where his whistle doesn't work... I love that part (always want to replay that). I don't know which of the two DVDs contains that or what song it is (I believe it is on the 511).
