I have to agree with CTB on this one. JB went and took over our one and only truly decent independant record shop. So there's not going to be any more special imports here in Canbera, and I have to go interstate for those. Hence I have a reason to hate them. I still shop there though.

BTW is this my most popular thread yet? Very strange.

BTW also look out for the Base Player mag featuring Hookey.

Has Hooky taken to base jumping? Baseball maybe?

Don't think you can blame JB entirely for the closure of your indie store. They were the ones who sold out.

It's funny that people rat on JB so badly. Everyone loves to get their CDs/DVDs cheap and JB are the prime reason this now occurs. CD prices in this country used to be amongst the worst in the world, now we're on par with everyone else.

I hate seeing indie stores close down but if the market's big enough it should be able to sustain both types of retailers.

If you want more range, buy online. It's the future. Why limit yourself to what your local store has in stock?

Not only did they take your beloved indie store, Ron - but the bastards appear to have stolen one letter 'r' from the towns name if the above is true. They are evil, I tell's ya CTB :bear:

So it's not actually base jumping or baseball but bass fishing, Ronny? I wonder if he's angling for a spot on Barney's yacht.

I love our local thread for local people!

I hate Sanity though. My local, an indie (owned by a chick who looks far too young to have such a cool & bustling business, or is it me getting older?), says mine is coming on Monday, didn't realise there'd be so much hassle. Is she lying to me? Never has before...

PS Thanks brade27 for the reassurance about the current GoB line up; was worried they would be no good...will report back. watch this space.

Recieved the UK CD single with vid & U-MYX today-lotsa fun to work with-sim. concept 2 an interactive thing I played with years back at the touring "Real Wild Child" Aussie music tribute where you could fiddle with the faders on a mini-mixing desk and "mix" a different version of Icehouse's "Great Southern Land"

It seems they pressed far fewer Oz Jetstreams then they did Kraftys. even the shop where I got mine only had one copy.

Who's from Sydney? I wanna go see Go Betweens at the Metro next month, anyone else going?

They're on the same night as Interpol here in Adelaide. Typical. Good bands either bypass us completely or they come in a deluge. Interpol and the Doves in the same week - whoo hoo! I've seen the Go-Bs (current incarnation) a few times too and thoroughly recommend them.

When are these touring in Adelaide??
