I think WFTSC is all tapped out, but if NO should release their 4th single, Turn will be a really good choice.

i haven't a clue why a label or artist would pick one song over another for a single, but TURN is very NOish to me. with the driving melody, TURN it seems would be a song people would pick up on.

If they really DO have another album in the can, another single after WFTSC would be a bit silly... unless... they released a single (along the lines of Here To Stay) that wasn't on either album, got everyone wanting more and wanting the new album. They could always release hundreds of mixes of the thing, after all. Oh, and they'd keep our interest because they're releasing DVDs aren't they...?

I'm quite surprised that they are still going ahead with WFTSC as a single after the poor showing of JetStream. They'll sell even less copies of this as surely everyone will have the album by then and there will be no guest singer to attract other fans.

It should be "Turn", the best song of the new album.

Jetstream was an awful choice for the single.

How often did we discuss this before? Had to be "Turn"....

I TOLD YOU SO. Why? Because I'm not easy with the song now and I would like to get as many remixes as possible - in that case I'd be able to pick a favourite one.

Of course TURN would be the winner of the poll, or Guilt, - but they ARE PERFECT tracks already now.

For the fans I would say Turn...however, Guilt is catchier. I thought it should have been the 2nd single.

If David Sultan's information is right, they might re-release either Ceremony or Temptation this autumn...

I doubt it, but that would be interesting... isn't it?

Sure they'll do the videos, but will they re-release the songs?!

2 questions.

Who are you talking to? Are you sure you are in the right thread?

I voted for "Hey Now", which really should've been the 2nd single. I really love the new album, but Jetstream is New Order's all-time low point, in my opinion. I'm really not surprised that Peter Hook doesn't like it.

It has to be GUILT IS A USELESS EMOTION (GIAUE). GIAUE is an absolute cracker and should have been single no.2. Bit peed off that it's not single no.3, but please God have mercy and let them release GIAUE as the last single from WFTSC!!!

Wow....i thought i was readaing a new order forum. apprently it's a michael jacsnon one. four singles on an album let me run that by you again FOUR THATS * ONE ** TWO *** THREE **** FOUR

one more than three and one less than five.

just so we're clear.

Goodbye New Order, Hello Avril Lavigne

Between using tapes[1] on stage and retouching gigs for release, and now three or even four singles from an album being the norm for them, I sometimes wonder if hooky's inability to play at a sane level, and Bernards constant antagonism of audiences are the only true vestiges of New Order left.

I think I feel a rant coming later on :)

[1]point out it's a HD machine at your peril....tape is tape is tape, even if you flatten it and spin it.

Sorry Steve but that particular bridge was crossed with the Republic singles.

The 3 planned singles from WFTSC were all announced well in advance and the interview printed somewhere on NOOL.

If there were to be a 4th single, then I'd say Guilt ahead of Turn. Turn is my favourite track off Sirens but Guilt is a bouncy-single type track etc etc etc.

I voted for no more singles BTW.

Definitively TURN

But a Ceremony remix would always be a good single.

Define remix

A new recording? A new mix, ie sit down with the master tape on the machine in the studio and start mixing? Or Let some moron DJ take 1.3 secons of gillian's guitar from the 2nd chorus and use that to make an annoying funk house track.

option2 would be the only one I would find acceptable.

Oh I know the bridge has been crossed, but it don;t mean I have to like it, OR refrain from reminding everyone they are getting further from punk, from being unique, and closer to just being another corporate product (albeit a very aggreeable one). I do have to live with it, I do not have to like it, pretend to like it, or play nice and shaddup bout it. I will be noisey and rude and I will swear a lot, it's what they would want if they were still allowed to make their own decisions.

As i wrote in another thread, they should release a double A side single. Turn / Guilt Is A Useless Emotion Remixes.

I'm talking to everybody, I'm sure they won't release a 4th single, although I voted for Guilt because I seriously believe it has radio and club potential.

But if you check the front page, it's said that they will shoot new videos for Temptation and Ceremony, which will be released this autumn, which would be the target for a 4th single... so I wondered if they will re-release any of those.

Although I wonder if they will give something for the soundtrack of "Control"...

Guilt would rock the clubs and the right mix could hit the KISS xxx.y/HOT xx.y-esq radio play in the States

Turn could get on the KROQ/Nerve-style radio stations and have some crossover potential as well

WFTSC is sublime but won't chart nearly as well as Krafty. One of these two could cement New Order's hipster status instead of another "comeback" label slapped on when they put out their next one.

Although Turn is a nice single Guilt would be more appropriate. NO needs some club play and this is their premier dance track off the last album.

By the way I heard Guilt while in OLD NAVY on 34th Street last week. My friend thought I was retarded, along with some other ppl, when I started belting out the lyrics.

Thumbs up to OLD NAVY :thumb:

I agree, but i think the american bonus remix should be the single. I can just see this song being a big hit on the new york city dancefloor. It will blow fischerspooner away and they are pretty big. Turn will just make people not familiar with new order seem like just another alternative band. I cant belive how overrated turn is.

Guilt just has summer written all over it.

With the dvd coming out this fall, they wont have time to put a 4th video on it, So I dont think there is a chance for a 4th single.

BUT: If Sirens the single goes to #1 then they might release a 4th single to ride the wave and cash in. But seriously Sirens will have to kick ass in the charts for the studio to put money into a 4th single.

Turn would be the best choise for a 4th single. Since Jetstream sucked in the charts, I doubt Guilt would do any better. But I will admitt Guilt would do good in the dance charts. But Turn is much like Sirens, so if Sirens does well, so would turn.

Interesting...

This TURN vs. GIAUE debate is really bringing into focus what NO will be remembered for most; being able to meld rock/indie music styles with dance/house music styles (all night long).

I LUV both, depending on which way my testosterone is swinging; but I still think GIAUE is the best kick-ass tune after Krafty.

It's the dance music lovers verses the indieists... who will win out...? Probably no-one as there'll probably be no fourth single...

If thats so it'll be another gloriously missed opportunity and another gloriously frustrating NO defining moment!

No more singles. Should have been Krafty, MNAD/GIAUE, and then WFTSC. Jetstream hosed the whole deal.

I don't see why anyone would not want anymore singles. Isn't that part of the fun of having a new album? -- getting all the singles with remixes and videos. I like "Jetstream" as a single. It's one of my favorites, if not my favorite, on the album. I'm not too fond of "Waiting For The Sirens' Call" as the 3rd release, however. I wasn't too fond of "Krafty" as the first single either. I voted for "Turn" as the 4th single. It's the obvious hit single... at least in America. I think there are a lot of potential hit singles on the album. It's a shame we'll probably only get 3.

Where did "Jetstream" chart in the UK? And "Krafty"?

I'm new to this board, by the way. I'm semi-new to New Order as well. I started getting interested in them a few years back. I bought "Waiting For The Sirens' Call" last week and am greatly impressed.

Krafty broke top 5 in the UK, Jetstream scraped the top 20 in the UK then bombed (no surprise)...

What happenned to the DVD singles this time around?

I'm not keen on the grain infested PC ports of their vids... at least the singles collection is being released on DVD, so that will soothe my desires...

If it's not too late they should stop plans to release WFTSC, see sense, release GIAUE then concentrate on the 2006 LP.

I can but dream...
