True Faith book

Finally got it, it's a nice book but looks more like an interesting discography with comments. What we'd really need is a biography updating Dreams Never End, more than 10 years have passed since then and all sorts of events have happened meanwhile: New Order's reunion, Rob's death, two albums etc. It's scary to think more time has passed since Dreams Never End than between Pleasures And Wayward Distractions and Dreams Never End! About fookin time for a new proper biography! Also, they, ahem, forgot NOOL in the links at the end of the book. Naughty Dave! :D

I talked about the book with David in the pub and mentioned the glaring errors and he was concerned but I said it was probably before he proof read it. Given the amount of work he did on it, David should have co-author status on it.

I haven't really read it yet, just had a look. I've just checked the Procession info and it's correct.

When I got the first draft, I wanted to change the direction the book was taken to make it less confusing and more interesting. I summited the draft to some other New Order fans to get their feelings about it. But I got stop cause I was reminded that It was not my book. So I behave and only corrected what needed to be corrected.

Maybe one day I come out with my own book.

Shame on me I know, mine was not on it on the final draft but they had mercy and added it.

I think it is a good book for novice fans.

Funny cause I just bought it in London. Haven't read it yet as I'm being too tired but my Mom wanted to see the pics, haha!

I refuse to get a credit card. Too worried about my ability to pay off bills and such

Anyway, from what I've read it's not like I'm missing a lot. Still would be nice to have it anyway

Hmm neither do I have a c/c, and to tell the truth I've never had a credit card. Yet I do have a debet card given to me by my bank where's my banking account (to cash paychecks), so with debit cards there's no big problems. ;)

I spend usually about $ 20-40 a month at Amazon using my debet card (though sometimes when it's tough I don't buy anything for months).

*Well, nice from you to admit the few faults of the book and to explain some important facts behind it... Yeah, good for the novices, but also for the hardcore fans to have a handy guide through te looooong Discography of New Order and all the related bands... I like having this info even with my computer off and it's really easy to use, more than searching web pages, so it's alright. What you really could do in your own book is the updated biography, from The Stiff Kittens to the next album (I guess it'll be released in time before you finish the book ;) ). I have a project for a web biography, but more like a simple site listing the most important events of their whole career taken from various sources (I'm just starting with An Ideal For Living), but I simply don't have any time, I don't think I'll be half through it when I get 90, hoping to live that long, and a book is just another thing, a proper biography goes deeper than the simple list of events...

I understand, I'd have never used a credit card (also for security worries), though paying with International Money Orders has always been a (long!) nightmare. BUT since a couple of years we have PRE-PAID CREDIT CARDS!!! And everything changed! No more IMOs, no more crap records in Italian record shops. Apart from the few stuff I know I can find in Italy, like Morrissey's live album, I get all I want from Sister Ray, Piccadilly in Manchester, EIL (though they cheated me with the "Krafty 2CD box set", yeah, my arse) and now Amazon too, they passed the test, the deal was very quick, just like the others. I just have on my credit card the sum I've left on my account. I've paid 100 Euros and 100 Euros I have, 100 Euros I can spend, of 100 Euros I can be robbed if the card gets cracked. Not one cent more or less. When I see I have less than 50 Euros I just pay 50 more Euros and get the card over 100 again. That simple. Don't you have such a thing? For me it was a revolution as important as mobile phones and the Internet!

Well Mick that's what I just had said: pre-paid credit cards are called technically debit cards since there's no credit given to you - you spend only what you've got.

So, thanks to you, I finally understand what is a debit card. I'm not sure if they're actually the very same thing, but the advantages seem to be the same so debit cards look worth it too. We don't have debit cards, or at least we don't call them like that. We just call them pre-paid credit cards, though you correctly say there's no credit, there's just a charge, or better, there is a credit, but it's me being in credit, having already paid the money, I have the right that the credit card pays for me, so it's like the opposite of a normal credit card. These cards are of two kinds: 1 Released from the national sport bets corporation, you usually buy them at tobacconists or bet points. They have fixed charges, like phone cards (from 5 to 200 Euros I think), you can't renew them, once they're finished, you have to make a new one. 2 Released from the Post Office: there's a minimum charge of 5 Euros and the higher limit is like 2,000 I think, and you can charge any sum you like, it can also be renewed. Both act like true credit cards in partnership with Visa. It's just like having a true Visa, they are recognized as Visa and you can take money from bank machines accepting Visa and pay in shops accepting Visa. The only excpetion seems to be Pay Pal, I'm not the only one having problems with a pre-paid credit card when trying to use Pay Pal, as I discovered when trying to donate something to NOOL... Banks aren't yet doing something like that. They have special cards for Internet businness, but for example you gotta have an account in the bank to open them, and they can't act as a credit card. I've always wondered what a debit card was, once I asked to a bloke of a record shop and he replied they were special credit cards which exist in other countries. Of course it wasn't enough to guess they were so similar to pre-paid credit cards...

I've had a brief experience with a pre-paid "credit" card. It was a card emitted by a financial institution (NOT a bank, they claimed). And you have to pay $5 each month - well they just take that sum off your balance on your card. So you can load the card anytime you want - in case you want to use the card. I had it for 6 months but when I opened my cheking account with a real bank they provided me with a debit card for free - for I could use my checking balance thru my debit card - very convenient, without monthly payments. So I immediately said goobye to mu pre-paid credit card and ceased the contract.

One thing about pre-paid cards and online shopping: the major problem with them is that they often are not able to accept refunds. For example, a seller using PayPal didn't perform his transaction but took the money. In this case he must refund your PayPal account and the money should return to your credit card - well in case of pre-paid cards it doesn't work sometimes.

Oh yeah, 5 dollars a month is crazy. I just pay 1 Euro each time I charge it... I know it's not faultless, but it's still damn worth it, definitely the best way to pay outside your country.
