Which NO songs have the best potential for converting the youf?
My kids (8 and 5 years old) and my mates kids (8 and 11) have been easily suckered with 'Temptation' - the green/grey/blue eyes etc... seems to be a good draw.
WIM is also pretty kid friendly...
Confusion 2002 remixes have been received with passing interest...
Crystal's Way-Wooing is also a popular move...
and J-E-T...
Anyone else had luck getting their kids onboard?
Joy division is a bit trickier...
My four year old son always comes out with the same thing...

His favourite band are Kaiser Chiefs. What can you do.
As I've already said it before I'm afraid I'm not feeling quite happy with getting the new kids into NO with songs such as Guilt, Jetstream and stuff. You think they would like say Movement for example then? I don't think so. But once I have kids on my own, I will definitely play NO songs for them, that's for sure. I know some people here who only heard of Blue Monday, True Faith and Regret and still they're convinced they are aware of NO existence. Bullshit! I keep telling them that they've heard nothing yet. ;)
Just tell him the Kaiser's have recorded some special songs, just for him on a disc called 'Unknown Pleasures'- i'm sure this will work...

She likes some Order but it seems to be the older darker stuff. Probably beacasue it's played more in our house.
However she did warn me not to play Kraftwerk (Min Max) in the car in front of her mates!

his bigger brother, barney age7, has as his favourite tune 'love will tear us apart' and has obviously been influencing little pops. a short while back I was making things out of plasticene - a chair, some veggies, a guitar - and pops picked up the tiny guitar and pretended to play it while singing "larv, larvle too uspar.... again". you couldn't measure my pride!

I would've thought they'd have to be moody hormone saturated teenagers before they would begin to appreciate Joy Div - but there you go...

Oh, my children (4, 2.5 & 1) LOVE new order. I must admit though, I am easing them into it gently by playing songs they can sing to and that I can explain lyrics of. been giving them a lot of the slower ones so they can get the words and have time to digest the different sounds. Haven't tried JD yet.
...and I am on the hunt for a melodica!

I think she will be into Cale by the time she's a teenager judging by the way she's going.
My son hates JD / NO. No accounting for taste I suppose!

Not surprised - This is an OK NO song, but not in my top 25% of the current LP's tracks, not hooky (bwah!ha!ha!) enough for a kid either - a lot of adults like it - not seen it affect a kid yet...
Ive got 3 kids (7, 6 & 2) & they all like some NO. The eldest was dancing to BM holding on to the stereo before she could walk!

Haven't recovered, not just yet! That bastard - autocue wouldn't let them play EGG for my ears only! :( But, hey, that was my very first NO experience live and I'm sooo happy I can't even find a word to describe it. Still missing London though but hopefully will be going back there in September again. :) Can't wait! In the meantime, I will be singing this: Your country is a woderful place, it pales my Belgrade into disgrace!! :D
My six year old likes "Vietnam". My 20 month old dances whenever "I Told You So" is playing.
I think Temptation might be the best intro, it's kinda a nice mix between the dark early stuff and the techno-inspired beat of later years. Most kids might like Blue Monday better, though.
My bro and sis don't seem to have picked up the NO/JD bug from me. Sis occasionally puts up with my playing True Faith at full blast, but otherwise they can't be bothered.
When I have kids (yes, Taboo #7 plans on having children...someday when my right hand no longer serves its purpose 
), I will play NO and JD for 'em, but not too much. Kids traditionally reject everything their parents like (my mom is an Eagles fan), so you don't want to burn them out on it early 
I am a 16 year old Australian girl and I own;
If I've forgotten anything, I have everything except Republic - I cant get it here. But I love evrything they do - just as they are. I will carry on the next generation. I also listen to stuff like the Happy Mondays. I'm not a goth or anything either - just a notmal person!! My brother introduced me to NO when I was just travelling sort of mainstream music wise - wisened me up!
I would also have the other two and you if there was a single copy in Oz - but I don't think there is. Maybe one or two, but none I can get.
My brother (37) introduced me to New Order in 1987. He's stuck in the 80s, therefore his fav track off WFTSC is Guilt!

not sure about children, but my cat, tyrone, has recently developed a liking for joy division. over the past week when i've watched JD videos and performances on my laptop he's come over, sat by my side, and stared at the screen. he seems to be particularly interested in ian's dancing.
he leaves when i switch over to new order, though. 
As a 15 year old the opening tracks of the best of got my interest going: Let's go, DNE, AOC, True faith, BLT. Great stuff. Still remember hearing BLT for the 1st time, and also thinking 'thats not bad' when I heard Let's go and then thinking 'what the hell is this' when Dreams never end kicked off.
I started listening to Joy Division just before my 18th birthday [a year and half ago] and yes I do look young as most people have pointed out. I started listening to them because someone said "Go With The Flow" by Queens Of The Stone Age was a ripoff of "Shadowplay". So I gave it a listen and I really enjoyed the song, then I got Heart & Soul and gave it a really good listen. Joy Division have since became my favourite band, probably before the end of last year, I forgot now.
I got into New Order after Joy Division via downloading "20 Years Of New Order". I really enjoyed "True Faith" and was really into the opening tracks - Crystal [radio edit], 60mph [radio edit] and Regret. I also bought both DVDs around the same time purely for New Order covering JD. I got into all the other tracks too. I know most tracks especially after hearing Substance a lot, however there are still some tracks I'm unfamiliar with as Wasim would know. I still need to give WTFSC a listen along with the 1993 album which has a name that eludes me but I won't for awhile as everyone hates it and labelled it as Regret with 10 b-sides.
