CRYSTAL by far, seems very big on indie types who aren't real new order fans especially.

So :
Turn - c'mon folks it's not all that. It's a pretty ordinary chord sequence, nice chiming guitar but nowt that hasn't been/couldn't be done by others. Take Barney's vox off and it could be anyone. The greatest NO trax could only be them and no-one else.
TPK - as 10cc said maybe this is just a phase I'm going through, but grand as the soaring arrangement is, it feels a little held back by the vocal melody. Also I do think it has dated a little more than other NO tracks of the same era.
Hurt - I know many folks here love it, but there's something about the juxtaposition of Barney's squeaking vox and a pretty nasty snare sound that makes it hard work for me.

Low Life = DATED. Cheesy synth stabs ahoy, very much a product of it's time.
Sunrise alone could muller the whole of Technique in a toe-to-toe! ![]()
I saw Temptation Technique and Low Life as overrated. ARE YOU SERIOUS? Please tell me what kind of drugs are you taking people
I know its summertime and its really hot in many locations so please go to a beach and relax
Change your mind and you are wellcome in greece if you like:)
(!!I'm posting 'coz we shouldn't let these terrorist bastards stop us from doing from what we want!!)
If Technique, Low Life and Temptation are all overrated then so is NOrder as a whole - what a load of utter crap!![]()
Some of us consider Technique overrated; others (unaccountably) feel that Low-life is overrated. I would imagine there is no overlap between these two groups.
In other words, I think it is unlikely there is anyone here who thinks that both Technique and Low-life are overrated.

can't believe there's been 3 pages of answers to this already. haven't bothered to read it, don't think it's very relevant. we all like different tracks and what I like isn't necessarily what someone else likes. so what?

If you interpreted that to mean that I thought Low-life is overrated, you were incorrect.
I was disagreeing with the comment that Low-life is overrated, and offering my alternative view, namely, that it is Technique, NOT Low-life, that is overrated.
I recently realized that, although "Brotherhood" is supposed to be my favorite album, I think 85-89 are New Order's golden years and the Low Life-Brotherhood-Technique is quite outstanding. I mean, what a body of work. If you throw in True Faith and even, even though it's a bit biaised as lots of songs on it are pre-85, Substance in it, you have to admit, live shows included that there wasn't much wrong in those years.
i agree with buster that lowlife-brotherhood-technique period brought a stream of quality albums and possibily were new order's peak years. i must make it clear that lots of there stuff before and after that period have still been of a good standard
simple fact is that some people on here edge more towards the electronic dance type side of NO,and some more traditionalists lean towards the guitar stuff so there will always be some diffence of opinion...WHICH IS NICE![]()

Thanks bansheeman. But one might say that it's anti-new order to prefer guitar stuff or electronic stuff as the very point of New Order is to be both, sometimes together (that's logically when they're at their very best), sometimes separately. But it's when this balance broken that something isn't right. That's my opinion anyway.
Fine Time Blue Monday World In Motion She's Lost Control Regret
IMHO, those songs are overrated by the band themselves.. except for Fine Time they play them all the time of a few times...
Don't get me wrong, those are good songs, but everybody is sick to death of hearing Blue Monday, I'm not much itoo Aciiiiiiid so here goes Fine Time, World In Motion is shamelessly their only #1 song, due to the very nature of the song ONLY... there are so many good Joy Division songs, I still don't get why She's Lost Control gets so much recognition compared to others, but that's me... and Regret, it's a good song, but I heard it way too much so I don't appreciate it as much as I used to... there's something missing.
Anyways, finding 5 overrated is mostly personal tastes... so you get what you want.. I wanted to point out some songs from the recent set lists that IMHO should be alterned by others a few times.. ;)

No, Fine Time is Acid music, whatever the exact term is, that's what I meant.
yep buster.a mixture of both at the same time.thats what's made them so special.but jetstream aint got much of the both bit, thats what makes it so unspecial(means crap):)

Have been a NO fan since 1983, Crystal is one of NO's best tracks however of all NO records the one I least play is Movement so any songs of this album would be my choice
let me preface this by saying that I think most NO songs are great, but some.....ehhh.

I think shes lost control gets so much attention because it's about epilepsy and is therefore very poigniont in relation to Ian.
My list, in order, would be:
Touched by the Hand of God Fine Time State of the Nation Blue Monday (good song, but overrated) Shellshocked
I can't say I feel much of the new stuff is overrated at all. I thought I saw "Turn" on some lists, and it happens to be one of my favorite tracks off WFTSC, along with the title track.
60 MPH. Only because Sports Tonight on Channel 10 (Australia) used it ad nauseum in their commercial. They only just stopped using it, so I I'll probably start liking it again.
I really love all the songs everyone has mentioned in here
Overrated ??? Deeply sorry People, but in my opinion, most of the time NEWorder are well underrated !!!
Overrated
1963 Guilt is a useless emotion TPK Krafty Young Offender- although probably not rated that highly anyway!
but cant think of many others
How can anyone say that Sunrise , Special or Blue Monday are overrated?
Overrated by who/what???
Only one I can think of is World in Motion coz it got to No1.
Cant think of any other New Order song that charted higher than it deserved or received plaudits in the press that it didnt deserve
The charts & press havent been particularly good to New Order until the press have suddenly started licking their arses.
So, every single song is UNDERRATED.
Although I could be a little biased ![]()
