Did anyone on this forum give this book a look? I'm curious about what people on this forum have to say about it before I think about giving it a read.

we've had 2 threads on this already: mine a number of months back, when most people on the thread thought it was relatively poor, and one a week or so ago, when most posters thought it was ok but left some items out.

it's basically a band discography with some bio bits.

I bought it about a month ago and it's not bad. I wouldn't say it passes on any nuggets that weren't already known but its listings of every gig, album etc is very comprehensive.

I'd have liked a bit more insight into how the actual music was written etc: the music of Joy Division and New Order etc as much as an actual list of stuff but that's just the curious muso in me!

I'd say it was a good companion to Brian Edge's excellent history Pleasures & Wayward Distractions. Worth the money and a bargain second-hand on Amazon, review and info of which can be read here.

The reviewer there makes the point that it's short on detail here and there and also objects to Tasty Fish being thought of as better than Technique! He also says the reviewer has a lack of objectivity when it comes to Hooky's side projects but then I'd want to stay on the ride side of the Hookster myself!

I thought it was very disappointing and poor.

Extensive coverage of things I had no interest in and scanty coverage of the real thing.
