I read somewhere that Hooky and Bernard changed instruments "quite regularly" in some interview that I can't remember, how useless am I. I was just wondering what songs. Here's what I've got so far

-The Sound Of Music [Here Are The Young Men video - Bernard sitting down with the bass so he doesn't have to adjust the long strap?] -Atrocity Exhibition [could be wrong with this one but I heard somewhere] -Confusion [the video gave it away and I made a thread about the slap bass before]

Any others?

"Murder". Hooky said they swapped instruments on this one in a Rip & Burn interview.

That seems kind of counterproductive as the guitar melody is much more complicated than the bassline in DNE, and Hooky is on vocals..

The guitar lines on Dreams Never End are actually quite simple after the intro. Hooky plays six-string bass on the track, and he plays chords and triads.

On the Joy Division BBC Sessions, Barney is credited with guitar, synth, and bass. Does anyone think he's playing the low end bass line on 'She's Lost Control'? It's much more prominent on the Unknown Pleasures version.

Barney's bass credit on the Peel sessions album is solely for The Sound Of Music.

Yer ears are gooped then - take a look at Taras Shevchenko for more evidence!

A slight digression from this, but in the same ballpark, I noticed Bernard plays bass on some tracks on Twisted Tenderness...

What's Twisted Tenderness? And I forgot about the "second bass" on Insight. Maybe he got credited for bass on the BBC Session version of Insight too. I don't know. :D

This should be in the NOOL FAQ section. Is it there? Since it's quite an often question. (A hint to Nic ;) )

Doesn't he also channel Hooky on Out of Control, during the breakdown?
