A few Points on this gig>
- It is excellent. Ruined in a Day, World, and Everyone Everywhere sound fantastic - much better than they did on Republic.
- How come they sounded so good, even though they werent getting along. Usually if bands arent talking, they sound shit - regardless of how much touring they have just done. Think of Squire and Brown jacking up their own amps in some sort of competition. NewOrder sound fantastic in this gig. Its amazing to think it was meant to be thier last, and was recorded after such harsh words between parties.
- In the Lyric to TrueFaith, there are 2 bits blocked out - were they relating to Michael Jackson - along the lines of "When I was a very small boyMichael Jackson Played with me" - but blocked from the BBC broadcast?

Give me New Order in 2005 any day of the week, with the likes of Crystal, Vigilantes and Transmish over Round & Round, World and Dream Attack! And as for people complaining about today's setlists ... try comparing this one to the US tour they'd just undertaken! The "Don't believe what you read in the papers" was nothing to do with Jackson, it was in reference to New Order's 'split' rumours. So, of course, Barney is actually 'fibbing' cos it was just about a done deal there and then. As an interesting aside, this was also the night the South Bank Show decided to broadcast NewOrderStory for the very first time ... and where were all New Order fans that night?! Doh!
Some of us were clever enough to set the video timer (Uncly John) 
I see yer argument, but look at it the other way, if the band were getting along and were really into it we'd have seen much more life in the songs(listen to Reading 89 for a band "into" the gig with Technique songs)
Having been at the gig me memory is a little hazy now, but I remember enjoying it enoromously and I couldn't tell that they were hardly talking, cos Barney and Hooky very rarely looked like they were getting on, I do remember Hooky strutting around stage (which was a rarity) after years of Barney doing it. Que Sara Sara at the end always sticks out.....the bastards! ;) I agree with the note perfect part, they were like that on a lot of that tour espescially the Montreux Festival.
I was at Reading 93 too.Was that firework that shot into the sky at the end of Perfect Kiss part of the show or just coincidental?.It closed quite well the performance.That was the last time the played TPK yeah?.
I set my video to record the South Bank show but when i got home the next day the recording had messed up and it was pretty much just a snowy picture with fuzzy sound
.Had to wait months for it to come out on Video NewOrderStory before i could see it.
Still have the tape from the Radio 1 edited broadcast which was aired about a month later.Gonna dig it out and listen again sometime.
shit, my friend had to take down the reading 93 mp3's because it ate up all our bandwidth. it was only intended for a couple of people, and it got out of hand with multiple mp3 blogs linking to it. we didnt realize it til we got a notice from our host a couple of days ago. :(

Could someone please put up the missing tracks. I never knew there were missing tracks on the Electronic Ecstasy CD. Shame indeed.

It was a good gig but vocals were suspiciously perfect. It was at this gig I discovered the ingredients for the biggest headache man can have.

Just reminded me I had a bottle of poppers, as well. Went to London the day before and bought it in Soho and a Boys Own t-shirt from Old Compton St. Went to the club night at Rivermead centre and we kipped on an inflatable mattress in the back of my Astra.
Best gig I've ever been to.

Yes, they do sound very professional, and as that show was only my second ever NO gig (and my first as a fully paid-up fan) I remember thinking it was fantastic at the time, though knowledge gained since has tainted it somewhat in me memory. Definitely a weird audience atmosphere (kind of mournfully defiant, if that makes any sense), lots of cries of "sell out!!" (around me, at least), and Barmney flashed me an this other lad an absolutely filthy fucking look when we both shouted for "Ceremony" between tunes. Also recall Jong Peel reiviewing the festival in the Guardian early the next week and saying that, against all his expectations it was probably the best Reading Festival show he'd ever seen. Go figure.
Was my first New Order gig so I wont hear a bad word said against it 
Yea so the songs they perform now probably translate better live, but who cares it was my first gig and most eagerly anticipated gig ive even been to :D and therefore will never be bettered in my opinion

even if that was true (which it isn't, as regret , round and round and as it is and when it was, are performed as well as i have ever heard them), the last 4 tracks on their own would make this boot mandatory listening.
anyone who believes that this is anything other than the finest live document that new order have produced needs their head testing.

Not a classic gig by new order's standards. Historically worthwile listening though. Barney was in a foul mood all the way through. Technical problems. Hooky's drum pads didnt work on BM. Perfect Kiss was shorn of its classic intro (Barney's doing?). I think the fans knew it was the last gig and they wouldnt be be the same band again. People even stopped dancing during blue monday around me. I do remember my friends who hadnt seen them before thinking they were amazing but for those of us who had seen the reading 89 gig it was clear that this was not vintage stuff. 'Que sera sera' at the end was not lost on us either.

Sounds like he is singing over a tape in Regret @ Reading 93. Two voices definitely.
