oh hell yeah... i knew you'd mention that almanso. angel dust has probably the angriest (and best) solo. the end of state of the nation is pretty good as well. and someone mentioned the second half of new dawn fades on still... tops!

Not really a guitar solo but... stupid, histrionic, brilliant and faux-naive. Only New Order could get away with it.

Yes! I'm completely with you on this one, especially since it's really only two chords. Similarly, I love the scratchy bit in Age Of Conscent which is really just one chord, but what he does with that one chord is brilliant.

I love the guitar work on Everyone Everywhere.

On Joy Division music, Barney give us so much great stuff... let's say New Dawn Fades

I didn't think strumming the same chord repeated counted as a solo.

On AOC the scratchy bit is a D barre chord.;)

just saw the clip of shadowplay performed on the show tony wilson did for granada- bloody brilliant! for me the most interesting bit was bernard's guitar, even if the cameraman was trying to film up his left nostril for some reason

Novelty, Lonesome tonight.

Barney agreed with me once the downside to his vocal duties was that he no longer concentrates on his guitar work as he used to

When I finally come up with an answer for the New Order guitar solo, someone has said it - Run.

And for JD - New Dawn Fades [Still version], which someone has said already.

Dead Souls

Best NO solo: Run

Yeah, but how much of the guitar part on New Dawn Fades is Bernard? Sure he played it, but it seems that he is just playing the melody that hook came up with. Unless hook didn't come up with the melody on that song. But great guitar work none-the-less. I air-guitar that part all the time while driving.

Steve Campbell wrote: I can only think of ONE real guitar solo, and that's actually a duet ( yes I did go to the Murray walker school of explanations). I'm thinking of the call and response thinkg between barney and hooky on shellshock.

There's also some scarey guitar on confusion, but either barney's been hiding the fact that he's really pat metheny all these years or it's a bluffer.

RE: the guitar solos in the original 1983 versions of Confusion-I thought I read(or heard)somewhere that one of Arthur Baker's co-producers on Confusion-a certain Mr. John Robie-actually played the solos. Has anybody else heard or seen that fact/rumour:confused2: :confused2:

The solos he and Gillian do on Dream Attack are pretty good.
