crap like razorshite and the magic shitbags will no doubt chart higher. Charts are irrelevant. But everyone has known that for years.

i quite like the magic shitbags actually.theyre alright.cant say the same for razorshite though obviously:nonono:

why do you like the magic shitbags? they're the worst band i've ever heard. i include my mates death metal band in that.

i knew wftsc would not sell well..its the 3rd single off the album so people interested already have it by now.it aint been played on radio much either.at the end of the day it dont matter to me because when ceremony came out in 1980 if a crystal ball told me they would still be around in 2005 and that alone would have been a fantastic bonus. as regards radio play-well its there loss:clap:

A lot of times record companies will not release singles anyway (at least in America) cause well the company figures they can makes more money off of the album than off of indidvidual singles

Depends if we buy it, really.

Is is THAT important to buy it on the first week anyways?

I'm buying only if it contains something that I want, and to be honest, having no b-sides at all on the singles is a bit of a turn off.

What puzzles me is that they don't even put some live songs like they did for the japanese Crystal.. it's not because they are not recorded!! how hard would it be?

I'm thinking it will go in at #19.

My optimism knows no bounds.

I agree Nicos, but I will deffo buy it anyway, looking forward to it in fact:thumb:

I think this has an outside chance of being a number 1 if it gets the exposure..I think people in general will like it, if they hear it..I think its a universal tune that optimistically speaking, will seep in to people's knowledge of New Order ...Although not a No1 in the charts True Faith style, well known,If ya knows wadda...Here's hoping tho eh???

It will chart top 20 no more. Simple as that.

There is - here i go on some sort of pyschological prtentiousness- something at the core of the song that any human being can relate to. "And i dont know where to turn when youre gone".Just happens to be New Order that have written it.It really really deserves to be a big hit regardless of whether it`s New Order or not.Or something.

Well, you know some of us like a fat lass:evil4:

And hey, i used to absolutley despise with a passion EMF and could not for the life of me work out what the fuss was about. While the rest of the population thought they were the best thing since sliced bread. That`s life.

IF it gets playlisted . . . people will buy it & it will be top 10 easily

But it won't be listed

i've often wondered this too,a few Joy divison live tracks would be cool,or a reworking of a classic? maybe they think they should keep the 'dance' side of New order going and stick to re-mixes?

Doesn't the explanation lie in the UK singles chart rules?

I dont think so. Morrissey, amongst others, got away with for years. And i think the Kaiser Cheifs did it as well on there last single. Dont quote me on that though.

I'm not sure but I think they need to be released in a specific 2-track format (CD 1) in order to be UK chart eligible. Then the artist can release a further CD of extras if they want (CD 2). It's a truly ridiculous idea if you ask me and no wonder CD single sales are dying on their arse over here. I'm extremely bored of buying these wasteful 2-track CD singles and then having to get a seperate "CD 2". For instance, the UK Krafty CD 1 is perhaps the most monotonous piece of plastic New Order have ever released (I like the track though) Track 1: A hacked up edit, Track 2: the straightforward album version  That one set my world on fire... erm, not.

I much prefer what the US and other countries get (when the band can be arsed/deemed popular enough to actually get a single release abroad) fantastic 8 or 9 track "maxi" singles. The US Crystal is perhaps the longest CD single I own with mixes we only got on 12" record over here. Plus the recent US Krafty/Jetstream editions have been great with little exclusive mixes us here in old Blighty didn't even get a look in at on any UK release. The Morel and DJ Dan mixes are far better than any of the UK Krafty ones. Even the US 12" releases for those recent singles had about 4 more tracks than the UK counterparts?? :nonono:

Bah. The management needs to stop showing just the US preferential treatment tracklisting-wise! :evil4:

I thought it had been explained that under the UK singles chart rules, if a CD single has more than three tracks, they must be different versions of the same song?

And that in addition, the total number of minutes was limited to 20?

You could well be right, the 2 track thing seemed most obvious to me as it's all I've seemed to be buying for at least 2 years now singles-wise. The singles Pet Shop Boys released for PopArt, all of Morrissey's You Are The Quarry singles, both new New Order's new singles etc. the main CD 1 for all those were 2 track wastes.

The WFTSC singles have been extremely lazy thanks to the band not wanting to do any b-sides

Well, if no b-sides is the price we have to pay for getting another album of new material in 2006, is that so bad?

i thought the rules were it has to be a certain length i.e under 4 mins long and can only have 3 tracks, and you can't give free gifts such as stickers etc away with any release

From Wikipedia:

Criteria for inclusion

In order to qualify for inclusion in the UK singles chart, a single must meet the following criteria:

  • It must be available on one or more eligible formats. Eligible formats are CD, DVD, Vinyl, Cassette and flexi disc. Digital Compact Cassette and MiniDisc formats are not eligible.
  • All formats must contain the featured track or a version/remix of it.
  • Only three formats can be included in a single's sales.
  • Sales of any additional formats are disregarded when calculating a single's chart position.
  • The single must meet a minimum dealer price requirement, to prevent record companies from making cut-price deals with retailers.
  • Each format must have no more than three different tracks on it, though each song may appear in any number of different versions.
  • The maximum running time for any format is 20 minutes if more than one different song is featured, or 40 minutes if only one song is featured in multiple versions/mixes.
  • A "mini CD" format is now recognised for chart purposes. It can have a running time of up to ten minutes and can feature no more than two tracks. It must be a 5" CD and sold in a single jewelcase. Its minimum price requirement is lower than the regular CD single. This cheaper alternative was first recognised in October 2003 as part of a drive to make singles more attractive to buyers in the face of widespread music downloading.

The full chart regulations also place limits on how chart singles can be packaged and what free gifts can be offered to purchasers. The full regulations can be downloaded from the Official UK Chart Company website or obtained by post from them.

25 at best, my fear is that it won't even get in the Top 40

We can always count in Ricardo to enlight us ;)

So they can put 40 mins of music if they don't put a b-side?

Gee, what crappy rules are that!!

Me? I love the idea of a good re-mix. Seeing that NO can get a lot of interesting folks to re-mix their songs. So a maxi-single is just heaven to me if I can find it

By the way, I predict that it will enter at number 37 and then fall down to somewhere between number 60 and number 70.
