If an alien came down, which NO song would you play/show them to explain the genius?

It would depend on the behaviour of our alien visitors. If they were coming off with a superioirity complex, I would have to play "Regret" which would definitely make them think twice as to who is the more dominent being. If however they were chill and ready to dance I would have to play Temptation cuz maybe they too will find their soul as they go home.

I would chose "True Faith" : that's what I do every time that somebody around me shows some interest for NO. Not the best NO song to my eyes, but one of the easiest to listen to. After all, NO (as well as JD) is a kind of religion with its occult mysteries only for the believers, isn't it ?

Blue Monday, and show them the sleeve and that of PCL. Reason being that we can supposedly communicate through mathematics - The rhythms of BM would help, plus the coded colour wheels and logical deduction of meaning.

...there's only ONE song, to get aliens out of here - and it's not a NO/JD one... ...it's SLIM WHITMAN - 'Indian Love Call'... :evil4:

I'd invite em in, sit em down, get some booze in and play the entire NO back catalogue to em, and when we're all agreed that its genius i'd say "oh by the way, they used to be called Joy Division, how do you lads fancy time travelling back and we'll go see em play live"!! (well, it's gotta be worth a try eh)

Err... EGG, Cries and Whispers, Temptation'82 (12"), Blue Monday, Fine Time + video of Perfect kiss and True Faith... But if he/she's got a good "ear" : the all stuff really (quite shure those alien type get very addictive anyway).

Blue Monday (the modern music turning point)

or

True Faith (a great music with a great video, the 87 one)

I'd have to play them Elegia (or at least a CD of it, can't play it myself!), because it's so abstract, mysterious, sensual and needs no understanding of language....they'd either 'feel' the song in all its majesty, or just zap me into the void with their laser pistols for wasting their time! :dead:

Run. It show just how wonderful music can be.
Great lyrics, bass, guitar, drums and one can dance to it.

I'm tempted to say BM, but I'd probably have to go with True Faith or TPK.
