vanity plates

i've seen the picture of barney holding the illinois license plate stating NU ORDR.

yesterday, while i was driving around on the 405 (one of L.A.'s freeways), I saw somebody in an old black/brown convertible with California plates stating JOY DIVN. :clap: which one of you is this?

anybody else own vanity plates in the U.S.?

you lot in the states have it easy with plates, the english system is crap, you're stuck with a letter to signify the year the car was made or earlier (making the car look older) or you have to pay an absolute fortune, By the way, the TVR in swordfish (travolta film) has Preston plates on, nothing to do with NO but interesting!

I did get vanity plates for my last car. I wanted to get WENORDER.
But, since you only are allowed 7 letters, i had it displayed at WENORDR.

Caused a lot of confusion about how to read it. Most everyone read it as
WENOR DR. :( .

I remeber this article - someone chucked the number plate on the stage.

By the way - I've worked out a much cheaper way to have my the same NOOL username and registration plate!

Nothing to do with the band by the look of it, just some chinless wonder in a convertible BMW asking to get fined for having an illegally spaced plate.

Sigh... Totally impossible here... The first two letters show where you come from and then you have two additional letters left (which you can choose freely (for money))... Mostly it's your initials then...

German hardcore-NO-fans could move to Nuremberg (they have "N" there) and choose "O" as addition -> N-O

Or move to Jena -> "J" with a chosen "D" -> J-D

I really couldn't do much with 05-D-number/number/number/number/number, honest...

Irish plates are "personalisable" but it HAS to match the scheme, so that messes it up

However, if I ever manage to get a Delorean (now around 40,000 euro, and rising, to get one and import it...), I WILL acquire 81-DL-12 :evil4:

I think the Illinois plate was from somebody who used to post here.
