Editors album

Was giving this album called 'the back room ' by Editors a listen yesterday and was pleasantly surprised by the fact that it's quite good..certainly there's loads of echoes and influences of Joy Divison in their music..check it out if u can.

i am really liking this record. it is definitely worth checking out. listening with headphones will bring out a lot of things you might miss otherwise. the guitars sound great. the programming on the last track, distance, is strikingly similar to the new order peel session version of truth. a nice ending to the record.

yeah, there's few more tracks which reminded me of some early new order tracks...as said earlier, quite good album and worth a listen for sure..

don't mention to them (editors) that they sound like JD. They will kill you

I saw the video for bullits some time back on an NME preview online. There was an obvious similarity to a lot of JD's stuff but I picked up on some ACR, Bauhaus, and early ECHO guitar as well. I started hunting, found a couple singles on the american i-tunes site. Based on that, I have ordered the cd from overseas and am anxiously awaiting it's arrival. NME online has been carrying a preview where you can listen to it on their site. Really a very strong freshman effort.

actually, I was on itunes myself and saw they have another album that came out in 2003. It comfirms there JD influence as it sounds a lot like Warsaw era material. I can't recall what its called, its a real rough sounding album. Horrible production, but the tunes aren't bad. there new album is great, love every beat. First 3 tracks are my fav.

It's a truly great album, I'm listening to it several times a day. The Bonus-CD is also quite good especially Crawl Down the Wall. One of the tracks on the bonus CD is produced by Guy Garvey from Elbow and they have a link to Elbow on their website. I read an interview where they said that they are rather influenced by Elbow than by bands like Joy Division etc.

Nevertheless, you can certainly hear elements of JD, Early NO, Cure etc. in their music, which is not that original as every other band is having the same influences, but they simply seem to have more talent than most other new bands sounding this way...

My favourite tracks on the album are Fingers in the Factories, All Sparks and Blood.

BTW, has anybody heard the new Elbow single Forget Myself, great song!!

Supposedly they only started listening to JD when people said they sounded like them. On that Radio 1 documentary thats online at the moment they are quoted as saying they don't mind the comparison as they "love the band".

I agree with the Truth similarity.

O.O itunes mistake, my bad I'm sorry. As for the back room I'm still listening to it a lot, all though the lyrics are a bit poor.

I went to see them live on weds,they we're pretty good. second time i've seen em this year.

the warm up Dj was playing quite a few joy division songs before they started.

they didn't when i spent large portions of a gig in bristol requesting transmission etc. i was rather drunk at the time & i really like them so no idea why i was doing it.

note - not a good idea to do this when stood 2 feet away from the lead singer during the gig.

apparantly he asked me if i was shouting out random band names.

The album sounds quite good. And is it me or does the photo on the cover look like the warehouse used in the video for "Love Will tear Us Apart"?

Have been listening to this album the last couple of days.First listen was my usual reaction of heard it all before.Thats just cause im an old bastard though and on repeated listens am quite liking it in a heard it all before but still its ok kind of way.Yeah the lyrics are a bit ordinary in places but you know.Some of it sounds like Movement yeah.
