I just got the Substance video off of ebay. Very nice. I had seen BLT and TF, but not the others. PK is my fav. TBTHOG is a close second because Gillian looks so HOT!

It says that Jonathan Demme directed PK. I wonder if he's the same guy that directed Philadelphia and Silence of the Lambs?

Anyway, PK had a very Kubrick-esque feel to it. If anyone has seen it, did you notice the JD poster in the background?

Who else has this video?

Yes, it's the same guy who directed Silence of the Lambs. And the director of photography is Henri Alekan, he wa sone of the greatest director of cinema photography in the whole world. He worked on "The Beauty and the Beast" (the film, not the Disney cartoon) and Wim wenders' "les Ailes du désir". The woman who directed TBTHOG is Kathryn Bygelow. She made some films in the eighties too : a vampire film called "Near Dark", "Blue Steel" and "Point Break" I think.

And you can hear NO tunes in early Demme's movies (BLT in "Married To The Mob" and I think there's one too in "Something Wild" though I'm not sure).

He also directed what is regarded as one the best concerts, if not the best, ever filmed : "Stop Making Sense", capturing The Talking Heads.

As for Kathryn Bigelow, she once was James Cameron (Titantic, the Terminator movies)'s wife. In fact, Cameron wrote the screenplay to her best movie so far, the breathtaking "Strange Days".

Is that the film with Ralph Fiennes?

Also, movie buffs, what about the briefest of cameos from Bill Paxton in the TBTHOG vid? He's the stalker/rapist dude in the cutaway shots.... CTD

Thing is, I missed this particular vid when it first came out, and I haven't seen it anywhere so it must be rare, but at least I've managed to get these videos as they are all featured in the NewOrderStory one i got at Xmas - I think. At least that's what I assume, unless theres bits in Substance (other than the Happy One presumably) that don't feature on NewOrderstory. Anyone confirm this or otherwise?

Todd - the new order story has most of them - but not all the way through;) Trying to remeber what's on Substance - I think it's Confusion, Perfect Kiss, Shellshock, Bizarre, True Faith, Touched, BM88 - can't remeber if State is on it - memory not what it used to be:lol: But you get the video's from start to finish - well worth having - I'm sure someone will do a copy - my video's a bit fecked mate!!

Cheers matey, I can always count on some folks to fill us in with stuff :) .....yeah I know what you mean about the vids on NewOrder story - as some of them aren't shown in their full entirety, and often do feature voiceovers and other distracting bits at the beginning or end....but I'll keep my eyes peeled for the original Substance. I dream of the day when I'll find it in some secondhand book/video shop or summat. Here's hoping, fingers crossed eh? (Heh - I've just noticed I've passed 100 posts, that's some small achievement for me, who doesn't post very often anyway cos of irregular access to internet...)

I'm a bit surprised no one seems to mention the 'Best Of' Video. I've got 'Substance' and it's great but, on the 'Best Of', you've got all of them...

Temptation (original) is on the Something Wild soundtrack.

I got Subs from the National Chain That Will Eat Us All, Blockbuster, about 2-3 years ago (think I picked it up coming back from a trip to the beach, I had ordered it just before we left). Taras I go off Everything English, a *great* website with some nifty items, I believe they still have it in stock. Here's the address for anyone interested: www.everythingenglish.com

The guy who directed the "BLT" video (Robert Longo) also directed "Johnny Mnemonic" w/ Keanu Reeves and Takeshi Kitano (the most important Japenese director nowadays).
