Is New Order good for interval music? — Forum Archive

Just sharing my thoughts with the other onliners here - seeing as my main job is quite a boring one actually, doing lights for theatre productions and stuff, I often find that when undertaking all this we have a tinny radio/cassette blaring out the usual radio one shit that my colleague loves listening to so much. Just occurred to me that in a few places where we put up the rigs, there are some nifty hi-fi's tucked away backstage that I could use to whack on a fave compilation of New Order stuff . At the risk of being bolshy, I'm thinking of doing this in future and tellin' me mate to stuff his radio one .....any suggestions as to which songs are best suited for such a setting, either Before, during the interval, or after the show...I've got some suggestions but I thought it'd be good to see what others come up with so we can compare notes so to speak!

I annoy all the bastards I work with every night :nod: Used to listen to the Radio at night - but it's gone from bad to fuckin worse - so it's NO all the way at my place - people are beginning to get annoyed - who gives a feck - certainly not me:) Songs to use YSF, Leave me alone, Elegia etc... (slow and soothing)

Ah, right - You've got down one That I've nominated - Elegia - obviously!! In fact quite a few of my first choices were indeeed instrumentals : Murder being another one (I fancy using that one as interval/intermission music to the next Easter play from Pontefract St Mary's Infants School - heh heh heh!! :evil: just to see the little lambs choke on their ice creams!! )

Ha ha......Sorry Shug, that's not normally in my character - I'm the nicest person anyone could ever meet! :nod: I loathe violence of any kind normally....but sometimes, you just cannot reisist a bit of the playful "Vicious Streak" - knowwhatimean?! :lol:

in the interest of Sir Mix Alot, i live a few blocks from 23rd and Union, made famous on "My Possee's on Broadway" from back in the dizzay Y'heard! The intersection is most recently the site of major race clashes due to the questionable proceedures of the Seattle Police Department.

it's tongue in cheek for sure guys. sir mix alot makes stupid, but funny rap songs. 2nd or 3rd rate in a genre of questionable quality.

Cheers GH - i will keep my ears open for this guy in future. Now I'm merely curious to hear his stuff ...I wonder if the guy lampoons the whole dubious gangsta rap genre. If so, then hats off to him for having the gall to do just that! :lol:

Sadly, it's no lampoon on Sir Mix-a-Lots part. Check out My Possee's on Broadway, Buttermilk Biscuits and Baby Got Back on Video to truly appreciate the comedy in this guys "art". He's the only semi-famous rapper from Seattle. Somehow, the home of Starbucks, Microsoft and Boeing lags behind NewYork and LA for true rap stars. Go figure.

I would have thought his videos were impossible to forget and they have certainly been shown over here quite a lot. 'Baby got back' was on in the last week, you have to stop when channel surfing.

Paid a dollar for a Mix-a-lot cut-out LP, and that was too much for it (it's the one with My Hooptie on it). I do like to hear Baby Got Back on a Friday morning at work though; makes the end of a hectic work week come just a little bit closer.
