They should do an album of JD covers (even though they'd be covering themselves).
Every time they re-record a JD song, as NO, it sounds amazing!

Well said, however we're not asking them to do things we're merely expressing what we would like to see them do.
It's more fantasy and wishing than anything else.
That's why I said maybe they need some tragedy or some drugs...Is that really going to happen???
This is what they are and I doubt anyone on here is gonna stop listening to them.

What's wrong with PSB music? I don't think their sexuality has much to do with it, don't know why there is so much anti-gay sentiment around NOOL land, but its sad.
Anyway, I hope 'Waiting for the Siren's Left Overs' is going to be a darker, harder affair, with a couple of synthy Guilt type songs; but we all know it will be the same as WFTSC- A hotch potch of very good songs, but nothing that earth-shattering.

Fellow NOOLers writing in a slightly unpleasant way about "poofs" is far from acceptable.
I thought/hoped most NO fans were smarter than that.
Not sure what all the gay beef is about but I don't think it's relevant to the music more than it is a cooncidence that PSB and ERASURE are gay with very happy upbeat music even if the lyrics may be down and out.
I think it's a poor analogy between gays and music.
You don't have to be gay to make good dance music.

I don't think they are going to do anything especially dark again. They have families, the band is getting along, they are probably finally starting to enjoy their career in music and financial security, and based on the last two records and respective tours I doubt you'll see a major shift in sound again.
Unlike other bands where I pine for the past, I'm quite alright with what NO are doing now. I was a fan in the 80's but I discovered just how great they were in the 90's, and thought I'd never see the band live. I've traveled twice to see them since 2001, and it's great to see them enjoying themselves -- unlike the countless bootlegs where it seems they'd rather be anywhere else. If you consider the big picture it's amazing what they've overcome to put out an album as strong as WFTSC.
My only qualm with them at this point: before this tour began Hooky said they were pulling some jems out of the catalog. What happened? The set is almost identical to the 2001 shows, and for a band with such an astounding catalog that's a shame. I'm sick of BLT, TF, and YSF. If Blue Monday is so annoying stop playing it... A Perfect Kiss, Dead Souls, or anything off of 1981-82 would leave people in utter disbelief.
God willing Hooky will get his wish: a set as Joy Division, a set as New Order. I can't imagine a place I wouldn't travel to see that.
There are more under 25 NO fans than you might guess. And it's the classics that got 'em hooked.
Here, here! At 16 I'm loving joy division / new order. And it is the classics that got me hooked. Ceremony, Temptation, Perfect Kiss, Your silent face, From safety to where, the eternal, ice age.... where does it end? I also love procession, It's beyond me why the band don't like it.
regarding 2006, I dont think NO are influenced much my their record company, I think theyre pretty firm in their bliefs and wont be influenced to any great extent by the wishes of the record company - I think they couldnt give a toss what the record company think. I might be wrong.
I'd love some dance tracks from NO, but I'll be happy with whatever they produce. I think what they produce comes from them and where they are at at the time, that's what I want to hear. I don't think they're bowing to pressure, they don't seem like theyd be that way.
They’re going to continue doing what they have always done – whatever the fuck they please.
And more to the point, everyone is going to continue loving them. If they can pick up a few under-25s along the way, all the better.
As a 32 year old who has been a complete fan since the age of about 12 (yes – very progressive musical taste as a child..) it would seem to me that their sound has changed that many times without much in the way of a decline in the fan base.
If anything, they might have been better served promoting themselves a bit better than they have done over the years, but there again, they didn’t give a fuck.
I remain 100% sold on New Order whatever they do. In fact, they could whistle Dixie at this point and I would still hang on….. ;)

I agree- NO are under zero pressure from the record company, they are one of Warner's 'trophy' bands- the back catalogue is a constant trickle of profit and the quid pro quo is that NO do what they want when they want, hence an eight year gap between albums (Republic and Get Ready)...
Actually, I think they DO care about being a current band and not just a greatest hits tour. They did more promotion around "Jetstream" than their first several albums!
I don't mean that to be a bad thing. If they didn't care we wouldn't be getting solid records and some attempt at a tour. And if they can make some scratch in the process right on, hopefully they can enjoy some of the rewards Factory pissed away in the 1980s.
Kids I'm at university with - 20 to 25 year olds - are all more impressed with classics, Joy Division are still highly regarded (a lad uses the Ian with a cigarette picture in his avatar at the faculty forum), a lio of them liked Get Ready, but they were very unimpressed with Sirens. If they're trying to bge commercial to attract young following, they're doing the exact opposite.

Yeah...and they could have some of thier instrumental stuff(Elegia, Ecstacy, Murder, ETC) playing during the interval between sets...also, get Hooky to sing some of the JD stuff instead of Barney.
