Stood right next to a dancing Bernard at Ally Pally ( 2 hrs after gig)- he was extremely out of it - couldn;t believe a man of his age was still doing drugs Sad eh My rule is never meet your heroes - they may ley you down
My Mum used to run an antiques shop in Knutsford a few years ago- She told me casually once that 'oh, yes, that singer bloke from New Order came in the other day, he was looking at fireplaces'...
After picking myself up off the floor I nearly throttled her for not getting me a personalised signed autograph...
'THERE'S SOMETHING WRONG WITH KIDS TODAY- I BLAME THE PARENTS ANYWAY!'

I spotted some of them in Hyde Park in June
Ive seen Barney at an all night Party in Stalybridge Called Upfront Promotions. He was dancing the night away with eyes like Cibie Oscars !! Also bumped in to Ste Morriss in Euston train station before the Hyde park Gig this year.Had the crack with him and got a photo together as well. Well Chuffed.:)
I literally bumped into Steve at the Trafford Centre around Christmas last year. He didn't say hello or anything, just walked straight past me.
Used to See Barney and Hooky quite often in Dry Bar and at gigs many years ago. I bought ALL their albums and they NEVER once bought me a drink...
I saw Steve Morris shopping in a mall on Michigan Avenue in Chicago in the afternoon, the day of the gig this past May! I think he was trying to find something nice to buy for his wife!
I said to my girlfriend "Hey, that's Steven Morris!" I think he pretended not to hear and kept on walking... I was too star-struck and shy to bother him any further, he seemed not to want to be bothered. It was definitely him, though.
Was with the Girlfriend for the second night at Brixton 2001, so stood behind the mixing desk instead of my usual spot down the front.
Arthur Baker came and stood next to us ![]()

Well fook me with a fuckstick!
Me and me wife were shopping in the Loop that day as well (had to race back on the El to get ready for the gig). I might have just missed him 'round there.
I can see Mr. Morris being distant and cold 'round fans, as he always was the (other) quiet one but for fucks sake, to see him 'round some where would be intense! [starstruck]

Thank you.
The reason I ask this question, is because 15 years ago, just before I was hugely into NO, my hairdresser at the time (who was a few years older) and I were talking about music. He was well into 808State and the Ex:El album had just come out and I asked him what he thought of 'Spanish Heart' which Bernard guested on. He then proceeded to tell me that his Dad was in 'the business' and that he'd met them on many a time as he was from Manchester. I genuinely believe the guy.
Unfortunately, I am no longer in touch with said hairdresser. :(
Went to the Hacienda acouple of times in 1990.Pased Bernard walking to the toilet. Then on the stairs later he was coming down as i was going up.I said "youre Bernard arent you?".He replied "no, it`s just my hair .i look like him".but it was him.

"Stop me if you think you've heard this one before…
Is that a kind of "urban legend" ? I've already read this one… ![]()
But it's the funny kind of answer I can imagine him to make for sure !

I've seen Hooky driving around Wilmslow and out and about with his family. And I once saw Bernard going into Thorntons.

Where do you live?
I used to see Wilson driving around Marple when i was at college there a few years ago, but thats it.
Lived here for two years now, and haven't seen any of the boys out and around, except at the Rob Gretton gig.
The only famous faces I've seen around town were Johnny Marr in the city centre, and Mani at a Vinny Peculiar gig. Maybe I need to keep a better lookout?
Saw Barney on the Piccadilly Line to Heathrow must have been about ten/fifteen years ago. Sat opposite him. He realised I'd recognised him but I didn't say anything - too embarrassed.

town, but my family live in north cheshire, so both really. hence loitering in wilmslow. last time i saw AHW was in may, stood next to him at a gig, didn't talk to him though.
so where do YOU live, Uncle Liam?
yeah...mate who's a nurse in Manny, seen Barney in the Ozzie in the ENT unit. Apparantley, his hearings fucked, and he goes regular.
and...Ian Mac from the Bunneymen was sitting right behind me at the recent Paul Weller gig at Liverpool summer pops. new bit of totty beside him too. must have split from the wife. not sure why he had his sunnies on in a dark tent though. sense?

jesus, isn't that going to be a bit of a problem? I mean, I know beethoven got by without his hearing but bloody hell. First the glasses and now this.
I've worked in Wilmslow for 4 years and not seen any of the buggers. Although when I got my mop chopped in Flanagans (while they were playing WFTSC !) the hairdresser told me Barney goes there.
I only ever see shite footballers in big fook off 4*4's in Wilmslow
i was talking to guy garvey the other saturday afternoon in st peter's sq.who the fucks him i hear you ask.elbow

If you consider that Bernard coming in the same restaurant I'm in and sitting to my table to eat breakfast, so yes, I did spot them ;)
I have spotted them a lot more than I was expecting actually!!
