This is one of those nagging things I cant get out of my head quite often.....namely how many New Orderr songs have that little sequenced "..digga digga digga..." or "...dugga dugga dugga..." noise going on throughout the song in the background.... the two most obviouos examples are "Temptation" and "Hurt".... I think there may be quite a few more...oh yeah, "Everythings Gone Green" is another one. I wonder how many more people can think of. Honestly, this is nagging me so much its doing my head in!!

In that case, Wire's "The Drill" album would surely kill you. Don't go near it.

I think "Shellshock" definitely counts as one of those.... and perhaps "Truth" off "Movement"....well...maybe... Actually I've noticed a similar noise to that Shellshock one (ticking sequencer?) going most of the way through "60 Miles an Hour" as well - you have to listen carefully to pick that one out - but its definately there!

i love that digga digga noise. What i don't like is the nagging tamborine riding all the way through Regret. Bugged me to no end on the headphones this afternoon even though i'd never heard it before.

Exactly!! That was what I was trying to recall but you got there first - "Dugga Dugga Dugga" - Drill by Wire!!

  • I even have the bloody record (SnakeDrill EP 12") somewhere...fuck, talk about momentary mental block! Wire - now there's a band whose later (post 1985) stuff went relatively unlauded. "The Ideal Copy" - brilliant record!

You can hear the one in 60mph more towards the end of the song. Last 30 seconds or so it gets louder.
